Built the website. He took 2 weeks to test. Then asked me for changes. I took two weeks for changes. Someday during the second week I login (wordpress), I see the old version of the site, all my changes are gone.

I ask him,

Him: I had a customer who needed to see my site... So I reverted to the old version. I had a backup.

For fuck sakes! 1st of all, if he is a customer he doesn't need to see your marketing site anymore give him a flyer idiot.

Then, for fuck sakes: Give me a fuckin call so I back up your site. Idiot.

Why you didn't fuckin back up my fuckin version.

I stopped working and passed him to a more patient, more wordpress guy.

Just idiot.

    What an idiot.

But what about git and daily db backups?
... Then again, a client like that probably isn't paying enough for those. So. Yeah, his loss.

@Ashkin not paying enough. And he wanted mento work live (live server) he can test...

It was a shared hosting, so no ssh, So no git. No backup because the back would have run after the second week I think. I forgot the details there (old story)

    I waisted my time.

    @thedev No git?
    I don't understand.

I use git for throwaway projects that never leave my machine. (Honestly, it makes my work easier.)

But for a client project? Absolutely in git. No question.

@Ashkin I couldn't work in local. I was working on the live server straight.

Because Mr Client wanted it that way.

    It was a wordpress website.

    Personal gitlab server?

Whatever. You've fired the client as you should have.

I use git for everything, mostly to be able to diff working code with current code if something breaks. Private gitlab or even on the local machine.

@Ashkin yeah you are right. I should used git. I should have found a way.

    Agreed!

Always best to get things off your chest. Especially when dealing with idiot clients. 😊
