I've just decided!
I am going to stop smoking.

I'm just afraid of the first days, where I'm going to crave nicotine, be anxious, have cold sweats, be in mental and even physical pain, and have noting to put in my longs when I'm bored or anxious.

I'm just going to smoke this last packet and I'm done with this shit!
I am physically sick of thinking about cancer and other diseases, and I'm sick of feeling like an old man.
I'm frickin' 22!

Please God, give me strength.

    Good luck man!

I know this isn't the the most perfect solution, but if you find you're feeling the stress of quitting smoking consider getting a vape and stepping down your nicotine content. I have the iJoy Captain Mod with their tank. With juice it's around ~$120. Another great combo is the Smok Alien 220W and the Crown Three tank.

If you can quit cold turkey then you've got the great self control. Good luck!

I was in a similar situation and I can whoreheartedly recommend a book by Alenn Carr: The Easy Way to Stop Smoking. Read this book and it will make quiting much easier. You won't learn anything new, but the book has a way of putting you into a mindset where you're happy about each day without a cigarette instead of being in pain of not being able to smoke.

    Thank everyone, really!
I feel dumb beeing addicted to something that doesn't even get me high lol
    Thank you for the strength.
Now I really need to stop smoking to honor my word

Dude, I will join your quest!

I will also finish this pack and quit!

Keep me updated on your progress, and I will do the same!

    You ok with this?
  • 2
@balaianu - yeah of course! Good luck to you to! It's difficult to stop once you are dependent, but be strong, and honor your will.

Probably my first day without smoking will be tomorrow, or tonight depending.
I just bought 5 packs of chewing gum to help with the cravings

    @mrtnrdl thank you sir!
  • 2
@mrtnrdl umm, what? Serial gum chewer here, what the hell are you talking about?
  • 1
    This is good
  • 2
Even i am quiting today... Had made a resolution to quit smoking this month and invest the money I save from smoking into mutual funds... Best of luck to you @shivayl
  • 1
@playmast3r - Good luck to you to! Resist the cravings, be strong brother
  • 3
You guys inspire me.. Last pack for me as well ☺
  • 1
    @nolte - Let's goo!!! Let's win this, be strong!
  • 2
@shivayl I have about half a pack left. Maby finishing it tomorrow...

Donno how I will cope with it, but I will think of something on the go :p
  • 1
Good luck. If it doesnt work, then i would try vaping as this largely reduces the threats to health by getting rid of all the chemicals that get burned in a cig.
    ;)
  • 2
Good luck man! I was pack a day for almost 8 years - it's tough, but doable
  • 2
Good luck to you guys. I am just here to show my support!
  • 2
I've never smoked, but I do want to say that instead of saying "I haven't had a cigarette in x days || weeks," say "it's been x days || weeks since my last cigarette."
  • 3
@shivayl @Balaianu @playmast3r I believe in you! It's possible. It sucks hairy whale balls, but it's possible and you can do it.

Just remember why you're doing it when it gets tough and it'll help make it suck less.

You're experiencing withdrawal syndrome. Just for thoughts, if you really can't quit smoking, you can still use vape (NO NICOTINE. Just be honest even if you know you are not ^_^ ). It is really useful and effective. I know some guys who were chain smokers before, but when they switched to using vape they may be envious looking to smokers who just puffed their cigarettes, whilst they already saved their asses.

Just a sample article that can maybe enlighten you :)

    Enjoy!

@shivayl I am down to my last one...

    The fun begins :))

    Good luck

@balaianu @nolte @playmast3r - Finished the last pack yesterday, I wanted to go to sleep already without cigarettes.

It's strange, I usually smoke after eating my breakfast (now).
At least I am on holidays from my course this month, so I think I will go ride my bike. I feel it helps a lot with stress.

Not planning on buying any more packs, I'm happy with this decision!

    1 pack a day for 8 years.
    No more!

    Be strong you 3!
And tell us how is it going
  • 1
@coffeeneia - Thanks! I'm going to take a look. But I think I can do this, I'm very determined right now
  • 2
I am also on the path to quit it, try for 40 days and it will become so easy for you.
  • 3
@shivayl Stay strong man. When the craving starts, just take it 15 minutes at a time. Then the next.. etc.. The craving gets less if you stay strong, I promise 😉
  • 3
@shivayl 2 more sigarettes... It's going to be hard.. The support helps though. I can't fail you guys. 😁
  • 1
@nolte I didn't see your comment when I posted mine, but you can do it! Your advice is good advice, so remember it for yourself, too.
  • 3
@shivayl I know for sure you can do that. Just resist the temptations, and all else are good. Keep it up!
  • 3
@shivayl Damn! I just faild it... Smoked one from a colleague...

    Start from scratch...

    This is hard...
  • 2
@balaianu - I also smoked one cigarette from a friend.
But I don't consider it a loss. Yesterday I only smoked one cigarette, for me it's a victory.

Yes it's more difficult than I thought...
  • 1
@balaianu I broke the oath in 8 hrs... Smoked 4-5 today. Need to start again from tomorrow...
  • 3
I didn't smoke from last 3 days yeeeeeee..
  • 1
You all are still doing great, even if you're struggling and caving. Just try to smoke even one less every day and you'll get there!
  • 2
    Just failed again... Damn!

    Again from the start...
  • 1
@balaianu keep trying, and don't give up. It's not easy, but you can do it!
  • 1
@taylorviktorya Gonna keep at it, but man it's harder than I thought...
  • 2
@balaianu yes. There were days I struggled worse than others, but they get better, just keep at it. I know you have a lot of suggestions here already, but I'm happy to help you with more if you want them.
  • 0
I am so weak... Just broke the streak again...
  • 1
@balaianu @mrtnrdl @playmast3r @shivayl @nolte how are you all doing? Want to strangle anyone yet?
  • 1
well, i keep failing to go more that 2 days in a row...

    this is disheartening...
  • 2
@balaianu keep trying. If it was easy, everyone would do it ;) your job is stressful, and that's not helping you quit. But you can do it. Just need to find a way that works for you. Not everyone quits smoking the sane way.
  • 1
@taylorviktorya well, i will do my best, not giving up yet! and yes, it has been a stressful time...more that the usual.

thank you for your support :)

    this really helps!
  • 2
@balaianu how many sticks do you consume recently in a day, though?
  • 2
@balaianu not a problem :) if you need encouragement, just tag me. Or if you ever need to vent about non-dev stuff that gets to you, ill give you my discord info.

Either way, I believe in you. You can do this!!!
  • 2
@coffeeneia it varies... on a bad day i did about 5... i was really stressed

some days i manage to keep clean.

most days i do about 2, i guess.

anyway, it is an improvment from half a pack a day :)
  • 0
@taylorviktorya well, if you are ok with it, i do want to get to know more people here, so chatting outside the app would be interesting...

i don't really use discord, i am more of a telegram guy, but i can give it a try sometimes
  • 3
@balaianu not bad! keep it up! :)
  • 0
@balaianu I just downloaded telegram... Never used it before...
  • 1
    @taylorviktorya found you :)
  • 0
@mrtnrdl how are you feeling, though? You doing ok with quitting?
  • 0
    @mrtnrdl 🎉🎉🎉🎉
  • 1
@theScientist yeah, this is more or less my goal for now, as going cold turkey didn't work out so good :))
  • 1
@taylorviktorya - I failed last week because I went out with my friends and alcohol happened...
  • 1
@shivayl ah. Other than that, though? You doing ok?
  • 1
@taylorviktorya - I used to smoke 1 pack a day and now I smoke half, so I think that's good...
I have to force quit one more time (and this time keep away from alcohol lol)
  • 1
@shivayl that's progress, though. Which is great!
  • 2
    @shivayl good job, man!
  • 1
I'm down to more or less 5 cigarettes a day!!
    Almost there!
  • 1
    @shivayl wooooooooooo!!!! 🎉🎉🎉
