Does anyone know if there's a name/term for the common distribution of app ratings that you see for pretty much every app (in the Google play store anyways).

Demonstrated in the pic:

    Thanks for the article @sheeponmeth. You're saying the votes most always follow the 80-20 rule.. 80% of the votes are allotted to the top quintile (i.e. 5 star rating), correct?

    But what about the rest of the curve? There are consistently more 1 star votes than 2 star votes but less than 3 star votes.

    I don't think this is a Pareto distribution.

    I think you'll find a lot more psychology behind it. (also I'm sure the Pareto link was in jest)

    for example people eater more likely to rate on the extremes.

    I think it would fall into a Pareto Distribution, but maybe not in the most obvious way. Like, mentioned, maybe in the extremes or some combination of values. The full distribution would obviously be more complicated than that.
