I know there are different ways of learning programming, but I see students actually taking notes from a programming books and highlighting important bits with a Pilot marker. (and they're not reading fundamental stuff)

Just fucking code something.

    Well... When I was a student, the professor handed us prints of procedural code to write...
    Sometimes even wrote it on a blackboard..

    Me and one other guy was the only two that rewrote it in our own way.
    Usually object oriented.

    @lotd They still do that and I can't say I agree with the method. This approach probably comes from math lectures and imo is very useful in that context, but not very useful in programming as there are numerous ways of solving problems.
