Disabling Google Play to use FUCKING APTOIDE is like not using Windows and instead sending all of your data to the NSA manually.

@filthyranter What's up with aptoide then? (i know the name, that's all)
  • 5
@linuxxx Their system is full of flaws, anyone can upload a modified version of apps (their detection mechanism for that isn't the best). If the NSA wanted to spy on you through Aptoide, there would be no easier thing.
  • 2
@filthyranter but with a court order they could force Google to introduce backdoors in apps as well easily...
  • 1
@linuxxx Sure, but that would also apply to Aptoide.
  • 2
@filthyranter So both are no-go's in that case :/

Why not get a blackPhone now you're at it. :)

    Use lineage os without gapps

If you don't want to be tracked, don't use a mobile phone. Everything else is just placebo safety.

Next make a tinfoil hat and keep it on 24/7. They're listening you know... they're always listening

    @Froot
    what a waste of tinfoil
you can use it to make a faraday cage for your phone instead
  • 5
@theScientist Nooooooooo it's too close. They can still read your brain waves from that distance. You have to throw it in the sea that's the only way.

Shit I got to go, they're getting close

Everytime I read tinfoil I remember Gilfoyle from Silicon Valley 😓

Download datasheets of everything, and hard copy it, then throw everything in the river, that's how you truly live under_the_hood/NASA_free/private_boi_1337 lifestyle, also, if any money left to invest, buy some land around 50 aacres, some cows, chicken, goats, horses, pigs, and no need to worry about the data being sent out to different organisations....but wait .... they have drones roaming around taking pictures to send out exact data for the high accuracy rate on the Google earth, but they found you doing some stuff to your cow/goat/pig, what then ?
  • 1
@sam9669 Then don't do stuff to your animals
  • 2
    @filthyranter it's "rough" being a dev

@linuxxx well. I already got f-droid... But what would you do in my case to protect mynelf?
  • 10
@linuxer4fun forget about privacy and just live your life. Everything is recorded. Every search regardless of search engine, every text, every call, every email, every transaction. And there's nothing you can do about it.
  • 2
@MissDirection my solution helps you become untraceable like json Bourne

@kenogo using surface technologies, every under_the_hood creature has to come to surface once in a while
  • 1
@kenogo Most people probably have other things to do than to be outraged by every entity that is trying to pierce their tinfoil hat.

Also, most of this extreme privacy shit is a bit out there don't you think? It reminds me of the dude from GTA SA with his VW hippie van called "mothership" who was growing pot and was always scared of the big brother listening.

@kenogo when the government is capturing every packet, it doesn't matter what you do to/with your phone. It's not about acceptance or anger. It's bigger than a 19 year old like me.

Is all of this really necessary? At worst you end up in an aggregate query. I personally can’t rationalize the usability trade off. The granular permissions introduced in marshmallow - which was a nightmare for devs - is more than adequate if you don’t want folks seeing your porn. Furthermore, a good section of the API depends on Google Play services. A lot of apps will have issues unless folks decided to reinvent the wheel - main trade off

@sslPoodle While with Aptoide, you can get malware.
  • 1
You can actually opt-out of the data collection. They even ask for your permission before any of that.

@windlessuser trust issues with the big organisations
