Wow.... FUCK FUCK FUCK!!!!

I just destroyed my raspberry. Miscalculated the resistor I need and RiP. Took 2 seconds and BOOOOM. Nothing is working anymore :( 2 weeks of wasted free time. Guess I'll have to buy a new one. Want to finish my project so hard

So what will fry a Pi?

This is one of many reasons why I prefer code over hardware.

You could probably sell it for parts to minimise the loss - which isn't too much to be honest

The Pis have a polyfuse to protect against too high a current draw. It breaks down immediately on overcurrent, but will slowly regenerate, try your Pi in the morning:)

Though you still might have vaporised a trace if the current was high enough for long enough. I'd imagine the Pi itself should still work though, they're fairly resilient.

@milkybarkid I'll try again later this day. The power management parts (neat the USB input) and the CPU get SUPER hot. I don't think it'll recover but I could at least try

@Ashkin The project actually consists of 90% code. The problem is that I have got no fucking clue about circuits and stuff. I had that for 3 years in school but that didn't help at all :( I asked some teachers for help (I needed an PNP transistor and didn't know what it was. Luckily my teachers were so nice and helped me out and even gave me 10 pieces of them :) ) and stuff but apparently I still suck too much

@PrivateGER 😭😭😭 nope sadly not. I'll have to ask my parents if I can have a new one. I haven't got enough money rn
