Hi devs! I wanted to switch to a different distro but do not want to loose data, is it possible? And I don't have separate home partition, every thing is in one partition only

Take a backup of your data

I also want my apps and configuration to not change, like browser and jdk, jre etc stuff too, if I copy that backup will it work?@Linux

You have probably alot of configfiles elsewhere too, not just in your homecatalogue

@darkShadow07 it depends. I do suggest using partition magic boot cd to create you a home partition and move your home directory onto it before you do anything. this will give you a better chance of not loosing much if anything. which if you haven't changed anything in /etc or created files in /opt, /srv, or /usr/local/bin there shouldn't be anything lost. worse case you might have to install packages but the configuration will still be there

There is a lot of configuration files in /etc too. But if you never touched it that's okay.
