Hi everyone... first time posting....Ive been struggling at work and have failed to finish multiple tasks given to me... I fear because of this, my job will be in jeopardy. Although I ask for help, it seems I am still unable to finish the given task. This leads to me believing I'm not smart enough or cut to be a software developer and also lead me to think that it's better if I just quit as I'm just dead weight for my team. I'm not sure what to do.

I know this sounds like crap, but keep fighting! Being thrown in the deep end teaches a lot and it should get easier. What are you doing specifically? Programming I assume?

@owithg I am doing programming. I think the main issue is I don't fully understanding the data and architecture that I'm using. That and the fact that I can't think of solutions on how to solve issues... again I asked for help but I still don't understand.

Why not ask if you can spend some time pair programming with another dev so they can show the ins and outs and make it clearer how the pieces fit together

@somolodo912 I agree with @gruff. See if you can pair program, and maybe see if an architect can stay a bit late and explain the data and system. Buy them a beer as a thanks if you can haha

I'm terrible at this kind of advice but I can say one thing for sure: welcome to this awesome place!

Thank you everyone for the feed back. I will try my best and keep at it along with suggesting seniors to do some pair programming. If worse comes to worse and I get fired, then maybe this just wasn't the company for me.
