"Can you put my site as the first result on google?"

I can add SEO to your site, just give me your preferred keywords, a description, and let's make sure we follow white hat best practices etc.

"No call someone at google and ask how much to go to the top of the list"

So you want to pay for ads or..?

"No get a figure I can pay to get to first page"
"Or can you just edit the google"

... And so I never renewed that contract ever again, the end.

I know a guy at google that can help, he always helps me when I'm in doubt, I just visit him at www.google.com

"Can you just edit THE Google" 😂

Oh but there is a price for that. Buying Google. Around $600 Billions.

When the client is dumb, answer with brutal honesty.

    >edit the Google
    *coffee spilled*

@Jop- that would be the most elegant method, but not all of us are good at speaking client, let alone doing so while completely baffled at the fact that they're serious about their ridiculous request(s)
Not to mention that that may lead to an even bigger headache in the future when the ad expires or the bill cycle is reached (not sure how google ads work) depending on how OP words it exactly. E.g: Why did you remove our site from the google?"

    My brain hurts comprehending this.

    Kill me.

They must have meant, "buy some AdWords." 🤑

Granted, the client obviously sounds silly to people in the know. To me it looks like a case of the client not knowing. Why not explain why their request isn’t possible and the options they have.

Each to their own, but I certainly wouldn’t stop working with a client over something like this :/

Like mentioned before the client simply doesn't know and thus also doesn't know how to ask for it. Whenever I get asked such a question I just remember how I asked questions on SO when I just started programming. So I just make a decision based on what I think he means. And most of the time I'm right. You have to be able to cope with questions like these when doing work directly for a client, most of them don't know a single shit about computers let alone how the internet works. The alternative is work for a company with a project manager who was a dev in the past: he will be able to translate the client's needs into logic.

My father said that once, why isn't my site on top, fix it. Told him how Google works but still he was stuck with the mentality.

We just have to respect that not everyone understands how the web works.

It is important to understand how high the competition will be in your business segment — strong competition, respectively, affects both the complexity of the work and the budget https://mediaonemarketing.com.sg/ca... . The more your competitors — the more willing to be in the top ten of the issue, which means that the fight will be long and difficult.
