Yeah, it seems counter-productive unless they are trying to add value.

I now have a canned answer to that: the build process for a release app (full build from scratch) takes about 1 hour, then I have to fiddle to get the app on 5 different places which have different process, which takes about 30min (or can blow out of proportion if Apple change their conditions AGAIN). Do you really want me to spend that much time for your one line to be in production?
