After one and a half year working at my current company, I finally took the courage to link the shared Sonos to my computer, and play the music I like.

That's some Great Social Achievement for me! Hurray 😆👏🎉

I still haven't worked up that courage.

The people in my office play very boring music. Sometimes they'll loudly say hoe.rmbsrrassed they are that spotify/whatever played a song, but usually I honestly can't tell the difference. Sometimes they play rap and it makes me angry and distracted. Usually though it's like. Black eyed peas and reggae and idk some louisana guy who was born on a train in the rain.

It's all so repetitive and boring!

By contrast, I listen to Van Canto, Nightwish, Kamelot, Black Sabbath, Blind Guardian, Camille Saint-Saëns, Bach, Tchaikovsky, etc.

I see it's not like "just put your music". Your brain has to be sure enough that people won't dislike you because you've put music they don't like. And that's what blocked me until today.
What helped me a lot, is some social event with the colleagues. Yesterday we had a great dinner outside work, I had fun (more than I expected) and bam, today I put my music without too much overthinking :)

@redundandundant we all should have musical freedom in the workplace. Helps drown out the stupidity.
