I once couldn't get through to one of our senior managers... i called him into a meeting room and asked for his tie. He obliged...
I wrapped it around the leg of the table and said to him... the left part is your current project, the right part is your new project... pull one one and see what happens.
As he did I could see the penny drop and he stormed off... I thought for sure HR was going to have my hide...
Now this guy is one of our best supporters and he always come chat about priorities before mouthing off...
(Not all our projects are agile because of ownership... but he's getting there) -
Ask how you guys can help and maybe ask for some pluralsight accounts to compensate for the training budget, which they can now classify as a small fixed expense.
Best of luck dude! -
Mucking about with WCF are we?
-
Don't know C, but if its a float, then that's expected
-
Yep... but we had to explain why 😎
-
The DBA optimised the script to suit their best practices... results were the same... I wish we had access to the stats because the IOPs probably went throught the roof...
Don't get me wrong, I love learning but sometimes book knowledge is just that...
Besides, that sql was being called by multiple threads in the app... and changed our CTE to global temp tables ala ##... -
Absolutely crazy... I almost hate Tuples just as much.... Maybe give ReSharper a bash, might help with some intellisense and has great refactoring utilities.
I know it can create concrete classes for anonymous types quite quickly, but don't know if it will survive that level of absurdity -

Let me just tinker with himem.sys so I can run my point-and-click adventure games... ah, Mr. Threepwood, we meet again.
-
Not all devices/browsers will give you that information. In the wild we see lots of iOs and Edge weirdness.
That being said, the standard effectively says that the header shouldnt be set when going from Https to Http.

I hope i understood what you're trying to do. -
... Batman!

@drRoss In that really fake french accent, it was meant to be bomb...
but my memory might be hazy... -
Good Moaning... the resit tance have ack quired a bum.
Lol... good memories... thanks dude! -
We have a golden rule : "Never deploy on a Friday."
Reality is we deploy every time a feature is ready, multiple times daily.
There is no reason to take away time from spending the little we have with our families, doesn't matter if the confidence of said change is 100%.
Even our Exco. team plays by this rule.
I know it doesn't help now, but this debacle might be enough ammunition for you to get this rule implemented. -
Just remember... he was there at one stage in his career. Hang in there!
-
Imagine that power in the hands of a marketard... end of the internet
-
We call really bad hacks the blue donkey... because this poor animal has been beaten to an inch of his life...
In this case, a new provider we're using is giving us a crazy amount of errors... but when we look at the data... the transaction is there...
So, after investigstion, when we send properly encoded xml that contains for example < / > " .
The data writes away but their api catastrophically fails.
Ends up... the team responsible for returning data, doesn't know how to do that. It's going to take them 6 weeks to fix.
Now we have to strip out all text that could potentially contain it... -
Trello... I love it so much I showed my wife how to use it.
Now I have a "DIY" shared board that will consume my weekends for... ever. -
Bad manager... his job is to keep your earphones on, not to throw you under the bus!
-
Are you Zuul the gatekeeper of Gozer?
-
@daarkfall That's exactly what my thinking is right now. There's 2 of my guys that would be great in the role but I think it's going to take some tender nudging to get them to consider it.
I think they just need to think about it for a while and then I'll guage where they are at.
Thanks for the response! -
Rest of the guys got it summed up pretty well...
Just like to add, schedule a meeting with her and take her for a coffee outside the office.
Ask of her what you wish but do not lose your cool. If she doesn't warm up, end the conversation with "we don't have to be friends, although that would be nice, but while at the office lets make magic".
Let your friends know. It will eventually get to powers that be and then you'll be noticed for conflict resolution too. -
Agreed. I hate walking into the toy store with my 6 year old daughter. All pastel pinks and purples. Boys side... all colours and sounds imaginable.
Now shes a pro at legos and xbox! -
Mine is called Mordor... because one does not simply deploy code out of it
