@Lensflare Ace, cheers, I'll look into that! I'm looking at 3d printing my own keyboard for work so I'll have my keys wherever I want, but it'll be good to have things set up for when I'm just using the laptop on it's own.
-
@Lensflare I've remapped a couple and it's helped. I just need to get around to doing the rest.
-
I use a Mac at work and switch between Linux and Windows at home, depending on what I need to do.
I'm forever using the wrong keyboard shortcuts and it's absolutely infuriating. -
I work with a good group of people, but I don't have any drive when I come back from having time off either.
I'm taking time off to not deal with work and to enjoy myself. I'm not spending my personal time getting my head out of relaxed mode and into work mode. -
@TheBeardedOne just a nickname I'm afraid. We plan on having more and we thought there might be ramifications to legally naming them all the same thing.
I'm not sure if once a sibling arrives this one will become Crotch Goblin Number One, OG Crotch Goblin, Crotch Goblin I, or something else. -
@netikras I didn't realise I was out until it was too late. I'd fully intended not to be out, I was supposed to work on some personal projects in the evenings and it just didn't happen.
Next thing I knew I'd had a taste of freedom and was staring down the barrel of my first day back in. -
@tosensei I just found out that my favourite dark chocolate is only 36% cocoa, 1% over the minimum amount to be classified as dark. I feel so deceived, and a fraud.
-
@tosensei There's a club? Do I still get to join if I only get to work on it for half of the year? I don't have a dry/protected space to work when the weather gets shitty.
-
@kiki ah, thankfully I can't say that I have that issue.
-
@-red Asking the important questions. But this looks like Gen 2, so I'm guessing Heart Gold or Soul Silver based on the graphics and the dual screens. I would have thought that the Gold, Silver and Crystal e-shop versions only used one display.
Also, I'm a fan of your keyboard @kiki, I've used the blue one at work for years and I love it. I genuinely don't know if I'll get the same one when this dies or I'll pick up another mechanical one. Both is always an option too I suppose. -
My heart...
-
@Lensflare Nope, the first one had a little white 'stache.
-
I'm genuinely so happy that there's another one. I miss my cat when I'm working in the office.
-
Now this is the kind of post I can get behind!
-
Around 18/19. It was Python.
-
Looking good! I love printing lithophanes. I've gifted a few too and they always get brilliant reactions.
-
Any chance that it's your current position/employer that's making things this bad? I think plenty of people feel like this, but in my case finding a way to change things up helps ward it off a bit.
I've not been fortunate enough to be in a position where I can choose to leave or look around for something at my leisure, I've always moved jobs out of necessity. In doing so I've ended up having to dive into the deep end and it keeps things fresh, even if it does bring along its own form of stress and tiredness. -
I'm not ready for this.
-
Hello there.
-
@Fast-Nop Thank you!
Really surprised at some of those numbers. Reassuring to know that I'm not about to lose my job because everyone jumped over to Wix and Squarespace though. -
A lot of the jobs I see around here still look for some WordPress experience, possibly some Shopify thrown in there too.
What's the industry preference nowadays? Is my small corner of the world lagging behind everyone else's bespoke, in-house builds? -
@TheEnd Sometimes you've gotta do what's right for you.
-
@angerydev I do both of these too, although the coffee is usually because getting to my desk is the first chance I've had to sip some.
I've heard whey protein supplements can help too, but I've not tried them yet. -
When asked in my interview here what I'm not very good at, my answer was mornings. Not in a grouchy, don't talk to me, kinda way, just that it takes a while for the coffee to kick in and the gears to start turning.
They liked the answer. -
Don't worry, we don't all say it.

I just reconnected with my childhood best friend. He moved to the other side of the world and it was difficult to keep in touch. We briefly managed to pick things up again about 12 years ago, but things fell off for the same reason.
Out of the blue he messaged me a couple of weeks ago and it turns out that neither of us have reached out because we were thinking the same thing - has it been too long? Have they moved on? We picked up exactly where we left off and it's like nothing ever changed. -
@sleepyObjobjobj When I came back here and it was still going, but people were talking about issues that had still hadn't been addressed, the same thing crossed my mind.
-
@electrineer I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did really.
-
@IntrusionCM hopefully not! I believe the company has decided that this role doesn’t really fit well with our setup, so they're looking for a different approach.
-
@Nanos Maybe it's differs based on workplace, or country, or culture. I know that we've tried forums here and there's a definite diffusion of responsibility. If people aren't specifically asked something, they won't want to make a fuss and and assume that someone else will speak up. Especially if it's a well known issue that affects multiple people. Personally I've found multiple, small workgroups with dedicated time carved out of their schedules to be the most effective.
And I think tying salaries to profits could have its own set of issues. For example, if the company isn't doing too well, through no fault of the company's, and people aren't bringing home as much money, some may be more inclined to leave for something else and make things worse for the struggling company and the remaining employees.
