@AlmondSauce sounds like a plan. Main problem problem in my case is. Ive got no clue what these test should look like.
No one can tell me what it does. Only feedback we get is when the enduser cant do anything anymore.
Its a very convoluted system which is from the 2000s xD.
But yeah its gonna be fun trying to make sense of all those edge cases which it has hundreds of xD -
@HiFiWiFiSciFi kinda yes. The main point of this refactor is to find out what the fuck this thing does. And get it to a maintainable state. Eg documented as to what the components do and behaviour explained and all.
Plus getting it lifted from the old java 8 env to a new shiny spring one and java 11 which we currently use :) -
@Codex404 been trying to find ppl. But my dislike towards frontend rly cuts down on ppl to code with xD
-
@aviophile what part aboit it is not english? Somehoe the first M of the, MO got eating. In case that's what u think is not english. Its just short for More :)
-
@jotamontecino probably. That and beeing new to java spring. Its basically the first real application im making for this company. And i went all out.
A ton of firsts as i havent used java before either.
The combination of using spring boot and wanting to use asnyc in a part of the application where it made sense resulted in this situation xD.
Unit tests are fin tho. Just have to get behind what exactly the integration test does and restructure it :) -
@Lor-inc its my work laptop. I doubt a ton would be able to leave the network and be sent to them lol since the firewals here are so strict that they make trying out new stuff painfull af.
Id never use an AV on my personal pc -
@irene mb meant reviewers. But i bet those were not around in 2005 LOL
-
@netikras thats unfortunate. Best of luck tho. Also if u have firends or inow how nornal workers are paid e.g. factory workers and so on. You can just see how much above them you already are and how much more it would be with the new salary. Since you should earn more than these ppl.
-
go to glassdoor and check if ure below or above the avg
-
@Lightyaer Yeah but at that point i could use evernote already. Its about only beeing on my stuff. No outside connections. Only inside my vpn network
-
@Jilano they look fine. But im searching for something seemles. Like evernote. Looks like joplin with nextcloud as synch backend would do what i want.
-
@korrat looks nice. But i need a phone app of it too :/
-
@monmadmatt i feel ya. Wadted a week trying to setup a google cloud instance with a certain programm on it. Could have been done in a day but the sys admins had everything blocked. from the cloud console to the tool u install on ure pc to issue the commands. took ages to find out what they had to open up in order for me to be able to do my work lmao
-
@succcubbus minr was awfull. Could be that it has come a long way since then.
But when you play Easy anticheat games u can forget lutris and steamplay. It wont work. So id rather have a kvm with windows that has full access to a gpu -
@netikras intetesting. But anything that takes longer than an alt tab is gonna decrease the motivation to do it by like 90%.
-
@netikras i dont get what you are trying to say :)
-
@Jifuna while thats true. A common example is to manage my game server. Under windows i have not yet looked into how u might be using rsakeys to loginto the servers. Because of that, Password login is turned on. And there are other examples i could bring up, but i think you get the point. Im lazy and id like to be able to switch fast :)
-
@Jifuna thats what i do rn. But i often need to do some quick things on my servers. But rebooting to linux to do some 2 mins of work to then boot back to windows and resume to gaming rraly sucks. I then tend to create a seperate dev env on windows or whatever over time.
which beings other problems.
Would be so much easier to just tab out or go over to the 2nd screen to do that work -
@simpleJack that sucks too hear. with a car my commute would come down to 10 minutrs so i doubt it would be worth it anyways
-
@simpleJack ik beeing driven. a bus to be precise
-
@Mizz141 afaik you gotta use a codec that is made for gpu acceleration. But i d9nt know which one that would be rn. But adobe should have it :)
-
Heads up buddy. Maybe you wont but it sounds like you wouldnt have been challenged enough at that workplace. Just think about the exciting new challenges in a new company. Who knows maybe one day you find an even better one!
-
@IntrusionCM had fun yeah. Upgrade went seemless as the cluster was only 2 nodes big. How i love it when installations just work :3
-
@IntrusionCM hehe i didnt mean that. Dev vs test env was already "intetesting" to say the least. At least the server is virtualized so ill be working with snapshots if i do burn shit down xD
-
@IntrusionCM did it on the dev and test env already so i got more famous words: "what could possibly go wrong" :)
-
Nice enjoy the freedom. I still remmeber how i felt when i handed in the paper that said im quiting highschool because it was a piece of shit. That feeling of freedom cant be beat!
-
I pull out my laptop and do what i wamt in class. Most of the teachers dont give a shit since its a sort of it school
-
@Condor duno if u already bought or choose ure phone but try ebay used ones. There are a ton of Samsung galaxy s7 on ebay and usually "used" ones are perfect. Check for companies with good descriptions of how the phone looks. I got an s7 edge for 300 euro 1.5 years back. It claimed to have minor scratches on the back and rims. Cant find them to this day. Plus i installed lineage OS on this one. Apart from very weird perf issues in some games its quite nice, also unlike what others claim it didnt take me more than an hour to flash the twrp + lineageos rom onto it the tut on the lineage os site is pretty good. I think used ones go for even less and if u want a normal s7 u sill probably be able to get one for 250 to 200. Looks for german sellers and hope they have an english version below. Hope this helps :)

@R1100 reminds me to get a backup running. Oh wait i have been saying that so often now that by the time ill have the backup drives the actuall drives die xD
