@retoor
That's amazing! Is this Web STT thingy based on some LLM and does it have an API? -
It's clear that we all have different preferences and that's alright. Perhaps I would love sticky scroll too if it worked the right way. As it is now, the file tree sticky scroll sticks to the first unfolded folder even when there are multiple folders unfolded, and doesn't take any account to the parent folder of the selected/highlighted file if any, thus misleading the user to believe the file one is working with is in another folder entirely. Very confusing to say the least, and it took me a while to figure it out. That's the sort of "helpful" features I'd rather reject. And in typical Microsoft manner, there isn't even a setting to disable it, but I had to look it up on the internet and add it manually to the settings file. I agree wth @lorentz. If Microsoft does want to push out features that some might find useful, while others find them annoying, they should at least have the decency to provide an easy way to opt out.

@retoor
Sounds interesting, but I don't use Google nor Android. -
@jiraTicket
Both of your guesses are very much to the point.
We're a tiny dev team and our core systems were developed by two now-retired dudes that ran the tech for 30 years precisely. -
@BordedDev
*lol* -
@Skriptkiddy
Yes, it was officially called "datakörkort", which only proves that the ones that came up with the idea were also the ones that needed it the most. This was back in the days when IT was called "ADB" (Automatisk databehandling = Automatic Data Processing). BTW, there was hardly any useful ADB education, which is why so many devs in my generation are more or less self-educated. This was years before internet became commonplace. -
There's something boring about the words "husband" and "wife". By not getting married, you stay "boyfriend" and "girlfriend", which is a way sexier relationship than marriage. Plus, the most common reason for a divorce is getting married in the first place.

You're both right. Tech changes slowly in our sector and we're stuck with an ancient architecture, with crappy old languages, and haven't even had any sort of versioning up until recently. It has crossed my mind to write a script for deployment, but that won't be necessary as we're finally working on introducing proper devops with versioning and all the sorts. We're almost there, so I have to put up with manual deployment for just another while.

@retoor
Sorry, late reply. GPT-4 should cut it for this one. It's beyond my comprehension why it fails. -
@retoor
The file doesn't look ginormous to me. Which API did you try? -
@retoor
That's precisely what I meant :) One will die before developing an addiction.
Cosmetics are usually claimed to keep you young, but you can turn it around, never to become old, and that's where lead and all of its derivatives come in handy. -
Så jävla sant!
-
Probably not quite as addicitve as sugar.
-
Huzza! It finally works to display a sidebar to the right and show the Copilot chat there!
-
For image generation, try ideogram instead. Way more realistic and less generated-looking results.
When it comes to the API, the Assistant API is too slow for any real-time applications. Regular Chat Completion is faster, but not persistent so you need to provide the full context in every prompt = zillions of tokens = darn expensive.
IMHO this tech isn't mature enough for any sensible application just yet. But give it a couple of more years and it will be awesome - just like any new technology, such as cars, computers, batteries or the internet, which were all kind of useless at their early stages. GPT has been around for two years and has learnt to crawl and talk but still, sometimes sucks titties. -
@azuredivay
What are *you* talking about? That's BS, mate. Sure, Firefox and its derivates often come with the combined address box and search box by default, but at least there I have the option to configure it right. There's no way to configure Edge or any other Chromium-based brower to my liking. -
@retoor
Duck Duck Go -
My bank claims their support are not bots. If they are, they wouldn't pass the Turing test anyway.
-
And once again I got proof that using ChatGPT doesn't increase my efficiency as programmer. It solves nothing, just leads you astray and adds more errors and problems for every iteration.
-
And now my bank has begun using stupid fucking chat bots in their customer service. That's useless. I'd change bank immediately if it wasn't for the lower interest on the mortgages.

The case of that Dutch restaurant sounds plausible. There used to be a Thai restaurant in my town that did the same—charging extra if customers left a significant amount of food on their plates. It makes sense, really. Sure, everyone leaves a bit now and then, but when someone leaves a full or even half a portion, they've clearly overloaded their plate without considering the cost and effort to prepare the food, or the environmental impact. After all, you're paying for "all you can eat", not "all you can eat, plus a portion you can't". -
I love dark chocolate too. So much that my very first "homepage" (as web sites were called back then) was on the topic of chocolate. Another sweet that I use to get a craving for is salt liquorice, very typical to the Nordic countries, while most non-Nordic hate it. I love it but sadly, liquorice is not good for the blood pressure.
-
@antigermanist That's some interesting cooking/defecating skills your gf has. I've never considered shit as something that could be even remotely delicious. On the contrary.
-
@TerriToniAX
Sadly, it only worked for a while. I believe some group policy or something messed it up, so now everything opens in tabs again. Fuck, Edge is so annoying! -
@divinedragon
Don't get me wrong. I love VS Code. It's the GitHub Copilot plugin that I hate. I've already tried dragging it and no, it can't be dragged the way you can drag the seach panel or any other panel in VS Code. It just doesn't work and GitHub don't bother to fix it. -
The 5 cent extra is totally worth it, for an upgrade to a golden retriever.
-
@donkulator
*lol* I'm somewhere in between, neither a player nor a complete bozo. I'm a regular bloke, I suppose :) -
BTW, forgot to update that Chat GPT works again in Waterfox. Some temporary glitch, I suppose.

@feuerherz
Ah, but it still behaves like Chrome in other aspects, like opening new windows in tabs instead of windows, and having an "omnibox" (or whatever it's called) instead of a proper address box and a proper search box. So there, that's the answer to why not to use Chromium.
