@cjbatz contrary to you, that would be the only reason for me to work there. Learning and growing and getting to know how these huge IT-Corps take care of their projects. Especially in the whole ML universe, simply because they actually have these huge databases to try out a lot of stuff. That would be an amazing experience!
Moral wise I agree with the others here though. -
In app browsers are also often used to keep users engaged and inside of your app, so when they actually "close" the app they immediately return to your product.
I can just speak of Android, but there you use a stripped down version of the Chrome/Chromium browser. -
Update, VPN worked, friend of mine did set up ssh tunnel as suggested by @bahua which also worked. And devrant isn't blocked in China! (Yet) Had a lot of other stuff to do though, so I missed quite a lot here
-
@Linux depends on the service, I also had problems with some countries to tunnel through. The best experience I had yet was with Singaporean proxies, they haven't failed me during my last two visits

@dontPanic or was it deep thought?

Generally these steps in order of priority help me:
1. Can I do my job with the technologies I know, if not what do I need to learn?
2. What technologies can really become useful in my near future? Is it worth checking out yet?
3. Do I have some spare time to expand my stack even further? What are some technologies which really interest me?
Here a few examples from myself:
1. I can already accomplish everything I need to do on a regular basis, but
2. I am currently learning kotlin, which becomes useful for future app development, and has a lot of advantages compared to Java, especially considering dev speed
3. Really into computer vision right now and fiddling around with opencv and python in my spare time -
@theCalcaholic maybe faster, but you described the project a lot better than me, I almost only provided the link
-
@Froot sad part, if the customer finds the bug which should have been tested by QA, the developer will still be blamed
-
@Baguette I'm open for change of something good comes up, where I can develop for the two main platforms iOS and android, since maintaining two Code bases is quite tedious.
But until now I haven't found the right fit for my needs.
Will check out Xamarin as mentioned by alva and nativescript though -
@alvaroalves05 I heard of Xamarin before, but my C# knowledge is pretty limited(my strengths are JavaScript and Java). I just did some unity engine scripting a few years ago. But as far as I can remember C# is pretty similar to Java code structure, so maybe I'll give it a try soon!

Create challenges with simple short codes like fizzbuzz.
Place a lot of cups, filled with an appropriate amount of alcohol, in the middle, in your case probably shot glasses.
Every time someone tests the code, take one cup.
Every time someone produces a bug or error, take three cups.
When someone finishes, all others have to take one cup.
The last one who hasn't finished needs to drink the remaining cups.
Now have fun and keep coding 😉 -
Not only buggy, for me it was also insanely slow for some native stuff like sqlite and also UI. Since then I switched back to developing natively, this time with kotlin and it's a charm.
Have seen nativescript though and it looks promising, since everything is converted to native even the UI. I will try it out at some point since I am still searching for a good framework to develop in both iOS and android simultaneously... -
Don't know if this might interest you, but infinity does not always equal infinity, there are different orders, I watched a video about it some time ago by vsauce called infinity, it might interest you:

Credits should actually go to geek and poke though, is posting nice cartoons for years, worth checking out!

I really like mechanical keyboards, not only because I prefer the way to type, but also because if something is broken you just need to replace one switch. Furthermore cleanup is the best experience out of all keyboards I had so far, especially compared to rubberdomes.

Want to have another tool to cope with?
Try insomnia 😉 -
...and a few weeks later there is an endless list of new features, ready to be implemented in a "sloppy" code base
-
Guess you can call that a deadlock by design
-
@gitpush I would agree with you, but that doesn't really fit my style in private projects. I often just hack something together to try things out, this time the project grew past some hacky stuff, so the change was necessary
-
I am absolutely going for access to servers(want to have Amazon and IBM as well though)! I would love to feed all this data to different ML projects... And since I would have the servers, I even would have the power to process it
-
This could be used for indentation, no more tabs vs spaces war

Where is Java? :(

QoL change:
I just accidently reported a rant, while trying to mute it...
It would be awesome if there would be a small confirmation dialog!
