@theabbie Nothing wrong with hearing about other people's perspectives

@100110111 I think they say it gets changed by one hour or so, so yeah I'm expecting it to change a bit. But my family members are all night owls, it's in the genes hue.
-
@Hazarth Some of the most productive people I know are night owls. People have different biological clocks, and if you follow what's natural for you get better sleep.
-
I agree with everything except the 3 first ones. Sleep at times that feel natural, if possible...
-
@girl-techie Please... just stop.

Says the east-swede... -
That's when I *start*, after a whole day of procrastination.
It's a problem. -
@Wisecrack Why are you making this seem like they're being kicked off services for dIfFeReNt oPiNiOns or something? I agree that companies shouldn't legally be able to kick someone of their services just because of their political views or something (although some certain people believe in a completely free unregulated market, so.....), but what has happened here is not that. I see nothing wrong with platforms not wanting to help out people inciting violence and other illegal things. If Parler just moderated the content and banned such things, it would be a completely different situation. It's no longer just about opinions or what political party you prefer.
-
@Parzi If you think that's the same, I think you misunderstood what Parler has been like, haha.

@Demolishun All I was able to find was some video on YouTube with 44 views that shows no context at all. These things are often taken out of context.
-
@Demolishun Wait what, source?
-
@aviophile Private platforms have their own rules, it doesn't matter if it's not a law. They're not the government. A free market allows for this...
The president being responsible for a lot of deaths can be quite subjective. Misinformation is a problem when provably false claims are spread in order to actively misinform people in a way that could actually be harmful in the long-run. It was just an example anyway.
An extreme example: if ISIS went on twitter and did things that directly or indirectly would lead to violence and people being misinformed (eg. with an intent to recruit people), should twitter not be able to ban them? Them being there causes harm to others, and to twitters brand. -
@Fast-Nop They didn't ban people who were responsible for violence? Do you have a source for that?
-
@aviophile This is not about left vs. right, this is about things like violence. An unmoderated community can't prevent the spread of misinformation, encouragement of violence, etc. That's a problem, and has nothing to do about you leaning to the left or right. Most conservatives behave, and don't get banned from the regular platforms in the first place.
-
@aviophile Uh, what? Elaborate?
-
This isn't simply about the political alignment of the users, it's about the users *actions* and how it's not moderated. Being a cunt isn't a political alignment. What's wrong with private companies wanting to make sure content is moderated? Aren't these people the same people that are literally advocating for a free market and unregulated companies, which allows them to do this?
-
Nnno that's me, I'm bakk
-
@Frederick He seems to have gone quiet shortly after NoMad got someone banned for mass-downvoting her, but I don't know.

@Root Have you tried it with banana?

@BlueNutterfly Still doing fantastic?

@theabbie People provided what they asked for, and discussed mental health a bit. Then you came along...
-
@theabbie It's not just about figuring out what's wrong, it's about improving the situation, which can be an incredibly difficult thing to do. Someone simply asked for a place that deals with mental health problems, and you completely dismissed the idea that someone may need help with that in other ways.
I might have missed something, but "Though OP wasn't asking for advice, it turned out" when did OP say this? Huh.
Your comments were disrespectful to warrant a reply. -
@theabbie "Yeah, family can be wrong, but we are not supposed to assume that." family can be as wrong as anyone. Being in a family doesn't suddenly make you a decent person if you're not one. Family can be wrong. We're not supposed to assume they are, but we aren't supposed to assume they aren't either.
-
@theabbie We're not just "arguing" because we disagree with what you said. It's because what you said can be interpreted as something quite disrespectful and harmful.
-
That is certainly not the only thing you said. You also said this: "I said that if your family is the cause of your mental health, you need to reconsider your choices in life.... Mental health is nobody's fault".
"you need to reconsider your choices in life" this really makes it sound like victim blaming. In this scenario, it's really not their "choices in life" that is the problem. It's their family, which is not something they chose.
"Mental health is nobody's fault" and this makes it sound like eg. abusive family members are not at fault. They are.
It's just disrespectful. Anyway, I do agree that the internet is not the best place for improving mental health, but that the same time it can be incredibly valuable to be able to interact with people that experience similar things to you. Especially when you have no one else to talk to about it.
