Islay Scotch (Ardbeg Corryvreckan and Uigeadail for example) w/o ice. Botucal rum. I also like Guinness and German "Altbier".
-
Nice try, Mr. Kleppman
-
@frogstair Great, thank you.
-
@frogstair I will check it later. Thank you. Do you know of small projects on github etc.? I'd like to read some actual well written code in context to learn golang specific best practice.
-
@frogstair I am actually not sure about what is best practice. I created a struct "Runes" for runes (the viking stuff, not the larger byte type). Then I just created a slice named "rune", which contains 24 runes from the elder futhark, their name, the number value, normal alphabet equivalent and the rune itself in unicode. For now it's in the main func, but to keep it clean I want to put it in an own function, so I can call it. Dunno if it's good practice.
It's just a small "project", which I thought about, since it contains struct, slice, some math, some working on strings, loops and if/case. Just to cover the basics. -
@frogstair I just uploaded the gopher svg, arranged it and added some text. I think there are plenty of webshops in the US (or where are you located), which offer such a service. It was about 12-13 EUR + shipping costs.
Thanks for welcoming me, but I think it will need some more time, to become good in go. Currently trying to initialize a slice of structs in an extra function... Maybe the mug will motivate me again later. -
Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?
[ You can google it ] -
COBOL (just kidding)
Give python a try, if a scripting language is also fine. Lots of tutorials, good ressources. It's also easy to learn if you are new to programming. -
@QuanticoCEO I don't think it's bad :D Just a bit jealous. My home office setup is a garden table, 2 screens and a docking station for my thinkpad.
My girlfriend got her setup on the other side of the table. MacBook and a huge screen. She already got another chair, no worries xD
But hey, I added a LED strip for her.
Btw. Beyerdynamic headphones? <3 -
The screen setup is also a necktraining.
-
@LoganDark If you want it to see in detail.
-
@LoganDark I only created the logo (SVG or PNG, with inkscape iirc... It was like 2 years ago). I used the service https://styleyourcap.de (german). They stitched it. Overall price was about 50EUR.

@fuckwit every load greater than the number of cores is too high. Of course an even higher load is worse, as the processes need to wait longer for CPU time. FS is ext4.
-
@fuckwit aww :( I know
-
@fuckwit Well, with a dual core CPU it's way too high.
-
@kamen I got them from massdrop some years ago.
-
@SortOfTested Nice collection 😁
-
I liked this one also
-
Vivaldi got a nice feature. You can stack tabs. You can also set tabs to "inactive".
-
Where can I get one of those heatsink tortoises?
-
@C0D4 Performancewise a toaster. But it's a NAS.
-
Vivaldi
2 windows, 10 tabs. But over here it's 09:38, so the day just started. I guess it will become 30-50 over the day. -
@C0D4 @PrivateGER @Jilano
Me, reading your comments about big screens on my notebook. -
@gomsim Thank you
-
@snakecoder Looks like you care enough to comment on it. So maybe.
-
Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, I cannot install anything on the customer servers, beside some basic tools like tmux. Then it's only installed for the current session, so most of the time I use nohup (which is always available) to start critical processes. Pain in the ass.
-
Well, it depends strongly on your boss' technical background I guess. If he actually know, what you are doing, he will understand it's complicated. If he is more like a manager w/o technical background, he just expect you to find a solution fast, since it's your job.
Of course there are good companies in the field, but there are also pretty bad ones. -
@Root She just waited and didn't say anything until the script annoyed me so much that I had to end it. Smart woman.
