I work at a unicorn in the valley and surprisingly I would say only half the engineers here hold a CS degree.
Now there's no question in my mind that a degree is necessary. You need a degree to hold any respect. But it's my opinion that software development is a skill and not an education. If you're going into college you should be learning how to think. Studying mathematics or music or philosophy or physics will prepare you far better not for your SWE job, but for your SWE career. Just study CS as a side hobby and you'll probably get a lot further than your BS in CS brethren. -

Express + Postgres + React. For mobile use react native.

Working 9-5 won't cut it if you wanna move up. Yes 9-5 is draining but that's average and you're gonna have to put in the work and be better than average to take your career to the next level. (not over time but like side hustle stuff)

Oh no we've been called out!!
*Netflix and chills passive aggressively* -
Congrats! That's very likely just your imposter syndrome speaking. Collect that pay raise because you've earned it.

Someone who's made a to-do app with react native please share what you built because I'm in dire need of an desktop to-do list app. I'll star it on GitHub at the very least :)

Sequelize + Express + create-react-app + node without a doubt. Express is so easy to put together on the back end and react is a beaut to write. I churn projects out on this stack in no time.
Then docker and aws ec2 for deployment -
They're not going to be leaders in industry for long if they don't document

Try codingbat.com. That's how I learned how to compose really nice Java. Otherwise, just read other people's code based on the technology you want to learn

I don't like having to type that extra '3' at the end of Python in order to use python3
-
Oh **** dude delete this. That's my production servers username and password

Improper usage of map, undescribable variable name i, mutating props when props is immutable, using delete instead of assigning to undefined.
So butt rustled by just one line of code. To me, this looks anti-code-golf, because there's just so many anti patterns stuffed into one line. -
Go to gym and work out your back. Invest in a good chair and desk. Set up a pull up bar right beside your work station and do a pull up whenever you need to think / take a break.

Js if you're more into web dev and presentation of data. Python if you're more into science and math and plotting.

That's wholesome af. I really like it!
