alias fuck="sudo !!"
One of my most used alias. -
Use google translate, choose an exotic langage, and type words related to your project.
-
Now you can try vim-hardmode ;)

Every developer with income is a code prostitute.
-
@CSaratakij *giting drunk ;)
-
@Triskelion thanks ! I will dig around this this summer.
-
Better than aliasing, put it in your hit config : https://coderwall.com/p/tnoiug/...

JSX isn't really ugly, as always, it's matter of taste. Bad indenting, is, nevertheless, a crime against humanity. ;)
-
+1 on @willol suggestion : you should start from blank, and dig around.
A vim configuration is really personal, you can take inspiration from others but if you copy, you risk to end up with something overkill, slow or buggy.
If you want some inspiration, mine are on GitHub : leny/pwenvim -
Congrats! Got my first boy six months ago. Nights are shorter now... :)
-
I named my son Raphaël. And by seeing this post, I just remember there's actually a lib in JS called Raphaël. :)
-
@azizfcb did you have any script and/or dotfiles to share? I love automating stuffs and see how others doing it.
-
@redstonetehnik same here. Still waiting...

For the devs of DevRant... we are the clients.

@curlmudgeon you'll be surprised. I know a web agency nearby where they don't use any VCS, and still works with FTP, directly on the server...
-
Still waiting for mines...

Congrats. Keep him far from screens for the first years. Not quite good for babies.

In four words :
Do it with flexbox. -
@nordboerg you can see each book as a chapter of a big, complete book about JavaScript. Kyle Simpson made an admirable and complete work on these, at the point I think it's one of the book you *must* read if you want to be serious about JavaScript in these years.
-
@nordboerg did you take a look to Kyle Simpson's "You don't know JS" books serie? All of them are really, really good. A must-read.

This is a great tool : https://detectify.com

In my previous workplace we had a complete wall covered by whiteboard-matter (think it was vinyle).
It was really, really useful. The only thing I regret from that company ;) -
@thureos it's the fundamentals of vim, based on modes and commands. I'm not comfortable in English to be able to teach that in comprehensive way, but I can redirect you to a video I recommend to each ones who want to discover and try vim : https://youtu.be/_NUO4JEtkDw
It's a great talk, inspiring and clear. -
@thureos I'm doing both backend and frontend, depending of the current contract I'm on (I'm freelance).
I don't understand you concern here : I don't see a difference on "switching from Firefox to sublime" and "switching from Firefox to vim". Same keystroke ;) -
@thureos for me, it's the "modal" way of use that I like. After some learning, manipulating text with vim is really fast. And also challenging, I like the way I can learn about it weeks after weeks, slowly improving my way of work.
The "non-graphical" way is not really a problem for me : I spend most of my time in command-line. -
@thureos seems you never really used vim and/or neovim : all you list can be done. And many others.
-
I got the Wilkhahn IN ergonomic chair after weeks of search and tryouts. Worth the cost.
-
With "!!", you don't have to retype the previous command, so I just type "fuck", but English isn't my first language, so you are probably right.
