Does anyone have any backup solution/suggestion? Like google groups/discord
-
And can I help in any way? I'm a dev
-
I'm back on devrant after quite some time, feeling really confused.
What is going on here, why are there so many bot accounts? I don't see anything from @dfox or @trogus. -
Here it is
-
@retoor I'm not able to see anything in @electrineer's profile. Am I missing something here?
-
@Lensflare I was considering getting a curved monitor for my work, thank you for the insight
-
@retoor I couldn't afford iPhones when they used to be good/different. Now I can, but I don't feel they're worth it.
-
Haha exactly!
I've never used an apple device. I really don't want to get one, but android has been consistently getting worse. I recently got a Landline voip phone. Works like a charm and doesn't make my ear warm. -
@Lensflare The problem is we're getting a lot of inferior shit for a lot more money which doesn't even last.
The only decent value for money phones right now are possibly Fairphones and CAT phones. It is just sad that there are so few options. I don't like to change phones unnecessarily, just a personal preference. -
God I miss the headphone jack. There is no decent Type C to 3.5mm converter. Plus I cant charge my phone when listening to music.
I want to listen to music when I want to. I don't want to charge a bunch of devices all the time. -
I hate folding phones, I don't get the appeal of having a flip phone with larger screen. I think Moto Razr (the one launched in 2000s) was just perfect.
I think I should have clarified, I have a Cat S22, not Samsung. It is a dumb phone which runs on Android Go. -
@JohnBee exactly. I use linux for work sometimes, but I spend more time searching than actually doing stuff. Docker has been a godsend in reducing my frustration.

@darkwind thank you! :)

I realized that Scala is definitely not the holy grail it is claimed to be, over Java. Read this

@b2plane my learnings from this job -
1. Set realistic expectations from all stakeholders, especially non tech managers who think coding is a piece of cake
2. Writing good code is hard and takes a lot of effort to keep it clean. It takes just one bad apple to ruin the whole thing.
3. Toxic culture is so bad for your mental health. Do not ignore it.
4. There's a local saying, which basically translates to - some people think that 9 women together can give birth in a month, meaning some managers think that putting more devs on something will halve the time taken on a project. Stand your ground and don't compromise at the cost of your health. -
@srpatil Yes, kind of. I am assuming you do as well? I did not mention in the post that one has to go through the myjio app survey as well.
-
@C0D4 Morons can't even get a form right. They've sent 6 versions of the same form till now with typo corrections 😑
-
@kayb01000010 Of course. I wasn't worried about getting a job, I just couldn't believe that these morons were the top 10 employers in my country
-
@Hazarth @alexbrooklyn @C0D4 @just8littleBit @fiktion @Jaspreet3480 thank you so much! :D
-
@BadFox It is a parody. One of my clients once asked me whether we used "new" technologies like mangodb. Hence the name stuck :P
-
@-ANGRY-CLIENT- My bad too. Such people don't deserve to be called developers. More like scum of the earth.
-
@mucalena I wish. It would have made some sense at least.
-
@-ANGRY-CLIENT- This was a developer not HR
-
@grumpyoldaf X was an a--hole also. He obviously never did any work, my boss always teamed me up with him to make me change my timings. No amount of complaints worked because the boss won't hear anything negative about his wonder boy. So I had to do the work of 3 people alone because for me deadline is a deadline, not a mile marker. Good it paid off at the end.
-
@syentix Yes you're right. Not applicable in this case. He wasn't willing to specify the limits of the input data set.
In his words, "make your assumptions, it should work for huge inputs and small inputs". So I went with divide and conquer. -
@AlmondSauce I was going through the above rounds because I was curious about how bad developers can be, and also because it was a lazy Sunday, I didn't have much to do.
This was a startup which had recently attained unicorn status. -
@Commodore 😂😂
-
@grumpyoldaf Thank you! :D
