Christmachrist you mean.
-
@schlenkibus This I love. I would never stop talking, myself.
-
@karma As a former dev, I'm almost as upset as you are...
-
@mzeffect Exactly! I'll definitely do that. Their resumes are on the short side, though, which is why I would like to have something more.
-
@BindView Yes, I really feel an interview is the wrong place and time to put someone through programming exercises, so a discussion might be better. Still it might be interesting to see how someone tackles a difficult problem, and what happens then. Do they ask for help? Do they go to SO? To be honest, I'm not sure what's the right thing to do here, but since I'm gonna be working with these guys it might be nice to see how they tackle a challenge.
-
@Phoenix99 Nice one! Not for this time, but I really like the thought of being able to see how they work in a team.
-
@tkdmatze That is a great breakdown, thanks! I haven't really considered those different ways of learning. I will definitely ask those questions.
-
@kunashe Thanks!
I really like that idea. Of course, I would expect them cheat a bit if I asked them to create something during a one hour time slot, but I can at least see if they comment on that. "I would have style sheets here, but..." -
I really don't like php, sorry. But that only makes me more impressed with people working full time with php and making nice things.
My language of choice is more powerful and easy to use, in my opinion, but I still only make crap most of the time. -
Wow! Giving away trade secrets I see. I will instantly copy this.
-
I think the result of this is that I will have my children color in squares whenever they finish their homework. Great wallpaper and nice reward in one!
-
@fir3shark or just the middle button from the mouse?
-
Pokemon go posts? Haven't seen the one. Check "hide reposts" under settings, perhaps that helps?
-
Ok everyone, gather round. This calls for an intervention. You, sir, have got a tab problem. Just remember that we love you, but we will now have to remove the ctrl and the t key from your keyboard. Hope you understand.
-
Exactly, don't feel guilty.
However, I find it to be helpful to type in the code myself when I find an answer, instead of using copy/paste. That makes me think about what I'm typing and helps me learn. -
All too often, and never on purpose...
-
@shadowX hah!
-
@uziiuzair How I wished I had visited that site during that meeting.
-
Did you get that tap on the arm I did just now?
-
@Geezus Have seen that. Have even worked like that. Am ashamed today...
(welcome to devrant, btw. Nice to see a first comment!) -
@beningreenjam Or at least bring a laptop to the interview, if they want to see how you perform.
That said, I have started to use pencil and paper again. It's frustrating to begin with, but once you get use to it it's a nice tool for doodling ideas and flowcharts. The battery time is amazing. -
@haabe yeah, I was a bit worried. It was stressful, by nature, but manageable. The was unrelated, as it turned out.
-
Not for everyone, of course, and I do respect that. Many brilliant developers agree with you.
I have to say though that to me, Python has never been about the quick and dirty. It's easy to get started on something, true, but you have to be as thoughtful as with any language.
Code completion isn't related to language, is it? Surely, that's more of an IDE issue? -
@samjb2 Nah, this is much simpler:
alert("By clicking ok you guarantee that you did not put any spaces in the credit card field."); -
I guessed as much when I saw your previous rant. It's the same every time for me. Code time will come.
-
I have one. It returns 'Not available'. Great portfolio.
-
@Gormack I guess it's working as intended. And devrant has become a great community, so someone is doing something right.
@tisaconundrum I know, I can barely handle the irony. Do write an rant about all the meta rants these days and you can be lucky too. ;-) -
At least client didn't file it as a bug?
-
I admire how you point out that it's only your opinion. I love when people are being humble about there opinions in this business.
Don't worry though. Cold Fusion is a dead technology. -
