Genius name!
-
@Jop- because for some games even the server part runs on windows only.
-
@jsframework9000 if I have a question I ask. If I'd have a supervisor (which I had I the past) where I feel get to the conclusion that a productive cooperation is no longer possible, then I see that I either talk to people who can change something, or if I believe no one can I leave for a new job.
And if I felt a conversation might salvage the situation, but I can't trust the person I need to have this conversation with I wouldn't secretly record it, I'd openly ask my hr person to sit in. (and I have done so before) -
Writing in all caps makes only one person look stupid.
-
I wrote my first line js in the 90s, and currently I'm doing almost full time JS.
The only reason I put up with that crap language is because it fits the use case of the product we are working on.
Being "the biggest fucking platform" means nothing. Use the right tool for the job, and know it's problems. -
Only asking for help when absolutely necessary? You must be an awesome team player.
Asking for a private conversation, then recording it...
Seems to me the two of you deserve each other. -
Windows on servers other than gaming... What can possibly go wrong.
-
Please stop calling yourself developer.
-
Nice.
-
Somehow I have a hard time to sympathize with a backend dev who's unhappy with their job and not just takes a new one. Especially in Central Europe backend devs are wanted like everywhere.

@Alice "violation of the law" seems a pretty good reason to me.. In Germany the swastika is a forbidden symbol, and the use of it is a serious crime - that's why German communities wont tolerate it. Context is important, and the swastika has a different context in germany than it has in India.
-
Uhm, "small company, bad practices" doesn't really supply a reason, it just seems to describe the problem in a different way.
If any of my bosses had ever asked me to takeover such files from another employees personal account, and store them in my private one I'd just have laughed at him and told him that the company had no business in having data in any of my private accounts.
What's next, the bosses seedbox in your basement? -
Not sure why those files where in your personal account in the first place..
-
Floats as Index is a feature which God requested. Basically he uses it to determine which devs deserve to go to hell - those who use it.
-
My habit of ctrl+s often makes me crazy when working with confluence.. Some bastard implemented that ctrl+s *closes* the document after saving..
-
The first time. I ever had contact with Lua was on a gamejam. The team I had picked was Lua fans, using löve2d as a framework.
One of them told me "it's. Like Javascript, if you take only the good parts." three days later my verdict was "its like Javascript if you take all the bad things"..
Sometimes I still have nightmares in which I see metatables over metatables.. just to emulate something resembling oop.. -
@console true... You might learn more about c# if you don't use a full engine,
but if you look at the market, meaning if you want to work in gamedev, then unity is a good choice, as it is the most popular engine (outside of AAA development). -
@corjaantje aperture, sensor size, low light performance.. Hell even the availability of a flash on a mobile phone are relevant too
-
@Froot fair enough, I'd still recommend to learn some basic c..
-
@jamescodesthing as I said, it's not the same argument, and at that time he had made the "can't" not the "no time" one.
-
Seems to me like you just learned a valuable lesson.
It's just school stuff - so the world won't end.
Imagine you where that guy: https://google.de/amp/s/... -
@JoshBent nice spin.
There is a difference between "I don't know that language" and "I don't have the time/focus/interest in learning a language" -
Not sure what you expect from people who voluntary run WhatsApp..
-
@kenogo, @Froot I agree with @froot on the first part, I have very little motivation to improve a software that I'm barely using - I rather stick with using the standard software for that, where I can find help, tutorials and professional support and focus my energy on the things that I want to improve.
But @froot, the argument about a web developer not being able to improve gimp? What's that all about? A developer should never be scared of learning the language a task requires. -
Why did your personal account have access?
-
I honestly wish people would stop making claims of software like gimp being an equivalent to Photoshop, it just causes disappointment.
-
Make sure you work in a Faraday-cage, and there are no windows.
-
That seems very unhelpful..
However, what color had your background before?!
