@flocke and no one would realize that you've left.. hahah.. it'll be really amazing to see how long it'll be until someone finds out..
-
That's exactly why this website exists:

@Nanos I agree with you. But the OP clearly mentions that the guy is respectable and he looks up to him. To me, it seems like both of them are reasonable folks and may be able to talk things out. Not in a bar probably 😆
-
Well, that's your side of story. Maybe you're right, but you've got to hear his side too. Take him out for a beer and hear him out.
-
Devs ftw!!
-
@jespersh i didn't realize this had already been posted.. maybe I was busy fixing the production table
-
Backups are always ready and up-to-date when everything is fine. But just when something fucks up, I'll find out the backups are suddenly corrupt
-
I had made some tutoring vids on git long back.
Here are two of them which I think will get you started;

@kgbemployee I know.. I am afraid, I'll lose one too. Shouldn't mix personal and professional lives, I guess
-
Never worked on swift and not entirely sure about what you said, but I know closures so I get your point (I think). But I am really fascinated by the fact that the redundant 'in' keyword disturbs you and it rightfully should! Attention to such small little nuances can lead to huge improvements in the long run!
-
@ganjaman I know, right! This is my first time learning a functional programing language with closures. I learned that in scala, while calling a function on an object, you can omit the dot preceding the function and the parantheses if the function has only one parameter!! And apparently this is a very common patter in closures..
eg: util.echo("Hello") can be invoked as util echo "Hello" -
@ganjaman how's it going so far?
-
#metoo
-
Hahahaha.. I laughed so hard!!

Get heavily drunk and reach office with beer in hand. Go to each director's room/meeting and make a scene. Kiss each of their bald foreheads goodbye. Put cutlery in microwave and piss in the fridge while blasting 'I am sexy and I know it' on huge ass bluetooth speakers with max bass. End with striptease with pole dance right in the middle of the office asking all colleagues to put money in my underwear for the best corporate performance of their lives.
Do it on a Monday morning. -
So you mean to say it's all crowd sourced? How about mapping remote areas?
-
What did you do? Did you bite 'em?
-
I've never had such an experience with any of the firm's I've worked for. But after reading stories like these, I long for working at such start-ups where everyone be it someone from marketing or a secretary work together as a team and deliver the product! Loved the story, mate.

Once you have some experience, you can probably think of switching and finding the right fit for you if you don't like your first company. But getting the initial experience is a must.
^ btw, in case you are wondering, this will prepare you for backend developer job position.
Best of luck :-) -
Not sure about Australia and the IT job market there. Figure that out first.. how many job openings in what all companies exist in and around. LinkedIn for that. Next prepare.. basics. Websites like interviewbit and hackerearth can help you with that. You'll be required to code problems on these platforms. Do that diligently with a programming language of your choice. If there's none right now, just see what language do the companies prefer in their job openings. Be prepared for a struggle of at least a month (maybe 2). But you will get through. In the last leg of your preparation, you can start applying to job openings on LinkedIn. There are a lot of recruiters on the platform too. Look out for them and DM them. 1/4 tend to reply. There must be some other recruiting websites for Australia that you'll need to find out and start applying.

Don't know about China but I can tell you about India. We have a plethora of mobile payment apps, one of them being developed by Google itself. The govt. recently provided a central API gateway which all banks adhere to and these apps utilize the same gateway to debit/credit money directly from/to your bank account. There's no transaction fee as of now. It looks like this is a direct competition to Visa/MasterCard which didn't evolve with time.

@70x1c I'll check it out.. 👍

Movie OSTs.. currently playing Dark Knight OST.
Helps me focus for elongated time periods -
I don't like taking meds. When I had the same thing, I ended up applying aloe vera cream/gel. Very soothing. But it took 3 days to go off completely. In my case I had something called hives all over.
-
Had a similar experience. In my case I lacked focus and wasn't able to accomplish much throughout the day. Music helped. But not just any music. Try game music or movies' original sound tracks. These are specially created to have the player/viewer concentrate on the game/plot of the movie. Avoid anything with a lot of lyrics in it. Nowadays I have my headphones on with Dark Knight OST playing. My productivity has improved quite a bit.

You don't use maven, maven uses you.

All this time you are waiting for response, You can learn new skills, take up a new wide project, heck.. contribute to open source!
There's so much to learn and do in tech. -
I was reminded of Bojack Horseman while reading the rant. Check it out if you can ;)
-
Dude.. One thing that I was glad about while reading the rant that you know what's wrong with you.. you know it perfectly darn well.. just that you are not able to help it. If you boil it down like that, you'll realize that this thing is not so uncommon.
You are frustrated because of a problem -> you work on it -> you fail -> you get frustrated -> back to square 1
It's a vicious cycle you see which you've been whirling around for quite some time now. You just have to break this cycle (easier said than done). In my case, and I am not proud of it, if I fail constantly at something, I leave it and occupy myself with something else. Small successes help to regain the lost confidence.
I am glad people coming out and offering help. I really hope you get that game out and I'll surely test it if you need me to. But just in case you fall back to the cycle again, don't fret it this time. Try. Instead work with someone else on one of their projects. Make connections, get back that human touch. -
Fingerprint? Face/voice recognition? Presence of another known device nearby? A couple of security questions
