@practiseSafeHex not at all, you can do that but that's a too big paradigm change, and not every developer is used to that.
For instance, I us it a lot to coordinate io, db and network with main thread, I only use it with ui event listeners when I need to throttle user clicks, or to throttle layout updates from background or server events, etc.
Is not all over the codebase. -
Don't know about RxSwift, but I use RxJava as a library not a framework.
I think the correct approach is to use it where is needed, the main value I see in Rx is the tons of operators you have available, like throttling, map, timers, zip, etc and the lifecycle operators to go on and off the main thread, background threads and io threads very cleanly.
So get to know the operators and how to combine them, that way you can tell very quickly when Rx is an overkill and where to apply it to solve a complex data flow problem.
Sorry if my answer is too generic. -
Thank you for sharing this, I'm keeping it as a cheatsheet to stay sane :)
-
@zickig yeah that's what I'm doing, I have a android app pet project that keeps me sane
-
@mileslemon 😂 is that even a word?
-
honest question, isn't it easy to workaround this cookie limitations with some other browsers APIs like localStorage or something?
-
just curious, can't you test if it works before?
-
I won't even ask if there's documentation for that monster, I would just say fuck that shit and good luck with it.

duckdouucken (hadouken voice)

@jschmold It's popular because of Java EE, Android and a really big ecosystem of backend platforms, libraries and services that support it.
I think the industry is moving away from Java but I also think it's going to be a slow process. -
That's true except when you don't have admin privileges, with a corporate security policy you are forced to keep automatic settings.
When I grab a random notebook at the office for a meeting, or the meeting room dedicated desktop pc, you can bet that the sucker will decide to update the moment I start the meeting.
So yes, I think I'll keep ranting about that windows corporate crap. -
terminator?
-
@Lahsen2016 most probably I misread you, it makes more sense after rereading (I'm not that good with english)
-
@Lahsen2016 I don't think they are evil, if that software existed back when they started the company then they would't hire extra people just to have them employed.
What happens with automation is that people can move to more interesting jobs that machines can't do. -
how do you remember all those details? it's a nightmare
-
these stories really improve my self-esteem, I'll come to read this whenever I feel impostor syndrome.
-
man what's in these people mind? "relationship issues" and was going to fork the code? shameless... I really would like to hear these people thoughts and understand the logic behind it
-
@SHA-16384 exactly, I think that money, politics and religion puts most people (and I have to include myself in there) into "rat-race" mode, only caring for themselves and maybe their family
and it always blows my mind how an astrophysical perspective makes all this thing look stupid... -
That happens to me all the time with my bank app
I have to switch to a token generation app for each transaction, and when I switch back it happens a lot that the bank app restarts
Looks like a low memory problem, either you have a cheap phone or have a lot of stuff running, because even though android provides api to store app state, it looks like sometimes panics and decides to kill the app and restart it -
@theNox thanks, I was about to buy a pair of bt headphones, I'll get wired ones 😂
-
@penderis 😂 that would be an improvement
-
@daegontaven now if you think about it devRant would be a great source of ideas for Silicone Valley episodes 🤔
-
probably the sound of technical debt
-
subscribed already!

well in java you'll get a "jar hell", don't know about that async thing but sounds terrible, my only experience with node was with angular 4, I thought node was supposed to be good since it's very popular right now.
-
Java: hold my beer 😂
I think it happens in most languages doesn't it? -
That's an existential rant right there, and a good one. Go and get that useless degree because you will need it anyways. You're not alone in wanting to help others, so get your ass to work and build something great ;)

after reading these comments I realize why I'm not a designer, I loved it 😂
-
@filthyranter GREAT 😂

that's me, I've 6.30, 6.45 and finally the 'shame' alarm at 7.30
