Whoa! That's a name I have heard after more than a decade.

Were those two so called DevOps by any chance Indians?
-
I use Lunacy... It is decent enough

Reading and collecting comic books. In my country they are still frowned upon and are considered only meant to be for children.
-
@IntrusionCM Indeed... It was a really deep-dive into the containers concept. Bookmarking it for future
-
@retoor yep! In my memory since 2006.. 😁

@IntrusionCM Amazing read..

@rodik The writing pattern where one liner sentence is expanded into a paragraph using same repeating words just to make a mouthful.
I used to do this in my history classes during explaining old warfares. :D -
@rodik This looks like a ChatGPT writeup
-
What a cringefest 🤮

@codingfreedom For a very long time I didn't understand the Nero logo, because I wasn't aware of World history that much. But now I know how creative of a logo that is - Nero Burning Rom

I still have the Looking Glass CD somewhere in my collection.

Just today a friend of mine who is in banking called me and asked how to create a slanted (rhombus) kind of background in a MS Word table. I didn't have a clue. So your statistics are accurate. When I need to create a rhombus I just create it using CSS 😅

I have heard praises for Peter Van Roy's book "Concepts techniques and models of computer programming - MIT Press". Too bad, I couldn't find it on any offline shop in my city.

The golden rule of coding -
Crawl -> Walk -> Run -
That's why I hate the JS everywhere concept. You can boast of Node.js performance but I'll never trade that little performance gain for an elegant code which ages well. Also Node.js apps are really a pain to maintain in the long run. There is always something broken with each new update to a npm package. And you just get tired of keeping up the pace with these updates.
Whereas .Net, PHP and Java all have one advantage that's long project life. I'll never prefer Node.js over these three.
Even if I have to go Node.js why not choose Golang which gives you truly a performance beast of an app. -
@rox79 Got it! Will follow-up with you over email
-
@rox79 Nice! I was thinking why my posts are being updated. Turns out I have a neighbor on Devrant, Yay!

@JsonBoa whoa! That national anthem thing is also in India. And it is very much similar in the regard that it is to praise some British lord when India was still colonized by them.
-
I actually search for negative points before using something new.

On Windows, HeidiSQL has been pretty decent. But Navicat is hands down the best MySQL client I ever used. It is paid though and my pocket doesn't allow that much. So Adminer or CLI is what I use. BTW, PHPMyAdmin also sucks.
-
I use "Insomnia" - never liked Postman

Whole Node.js ecosystem is just meh. Unless you want to do sockets, just use Socket.io... otherwise Laravel fulfills most of the web application use cases.
JavaScript everywhere concept is an abomination. -
For a moment I thought what would a tennis star do here 🤣
-
Unrelated but I still face trouble in creating strategy for exporting data. You mentioned that MySQL records exporting process consumed 100% CPU while creating Excel file. I face trouble with a similar scenario where my client needs an XML feed everyday containing all the website data. Maybe he feeds it to some aggregation service but querying everything and putting it in a single XML feels so inefficient everytime we do. Any better approaches on exporting data without affecting the whole server?
-
The whole Node.js ecosystem is cancer.

Linkedln where you get the inferiority complex that you are the least skillful person. If somebody passes a driving license test he'll brag like this on LinkedIn
"I am honoured and thrilled to announce that I have been selected among the top 5 applicants who participated in professional and the most respected exam which evaluates the skills and ability to operate fuel based light vehicles. I cannot wait to see what the next chapter holds, and i cannot express my appreciation to the ministry of transportation, Google, NASA, my neighbors who supported me during this difficult journey. I would also like to thank my mother's husband i.e my father, without whom I won't have been able to get the key of the vehicle." -
If Amrish Puri was alive today, he would really have nailed the evil Strange character. He was a damn good actor.
