@Hazarth haha, tests are related to some unused feature, mostly fixing test is the only option as the base functionality is changed and the feature impacted is not critical one.
-
@Hazarth I have no problem if it's reasonable for me to fix it, also urgent fix will be an issue, it will impact my PIP project.
-
@Hazarth yes there is a big red, but as the PR is critical, tests are skipped and PR will be merged, I was immediately assigned the tests to fix on priority without any explanation.
-
update: manager assigned it to someone else.
-
yeah, my manager gave me an impossible project and he ignored when I called this out. He's quite irresponsible and I expect those things from him, he changed the project but now I have decided to leave, just need to sail through this PIP
-
@PaperTrail PIP is not justified in my opinion. It was due to speed of delivery issue, for me, I have spent 4 months with 2 teams, I have never worked in the yech stack they are using, no onboarding provided, from day 1 I was supposed to start the work.
Also, the PIP project is re-evaluated recently and it turned out to be a 3 months project as stated by one of the seniors. So the project is changed. I called this out when I looked at the project but it was ignored. -
@Wolle so did you switch jobs or got out of it?
-
@IntrusionCM Performance Improvement Plan, if management thinks that you are not performing on your level, then they put you on this plan for sometime, generally for month and you are given a project to complete, if you couldn't complete it they fire you.
Practically, it is used to fire people formally. There are chances to get out of it off you perform well but if they want to fire you project is too complex to be completed in the given time. -
Good news my manager changed :)
-
@PappyHans Yeah I'm going to do this today. I don't know what will happen but I need to voice it out now. Till now I didn't as my manager is someone who's not approachable but today I'm going to push myself to make things uncomfortable
-
@ScriptCoded I literally took a day recovering from an urgent task.
-
Bonus: I just realised it's Wednesday today not Tuesday. :(
-
@horus it's about marriage, he doesn't want to have kids either.
-
@black-kite well there are actually a lot new people.
-
@Crost Yeah and that's why I didn't write anything when she asked me about my work updates.
My work will be with her at least for next 6 months, I don't want to spend so much time having this issue. -
@Oktokolo Sometimes she's good like she tries to explain things when I ask. But I really got triggered today when she asked what did I do in the day. Feels like she'll be bossing around. I don't have much evidence to take a decision but being early in judgement I want to save myself from future problems.
-
Right, I can say that as I have worked independently in my previous organisation, spoon feeding me on how and what to change in the code doesn't seem right to me. I am kind of scared that she's trying to be my boss as she asked me what did I do yesterday. I didn't like her method because the code change I pushed because of here comments was a bad change, so I really don't think her of as a good developer.
I have seen her code changes and code is messed up. Big functions, too many db calls etc.
So, I think I feel that I won't be able to grow if I have to keep on working with her as I am sensing a bad vibe here, anyway there's another project which has senior developers and at the end of the project, I will get a lot more knowledge of the product.
Me, complaining could be taken as bad thing but at this point I want to only learn. I need to grow in my job and I don't want someone's ego in that path blocking me. -
@sariel so did you?
-
@aviophile ah clever!
-
@sariel So you are suggesting to prioritise my work relationships over "right or wrong ' argument?
I hope I won't see that day. -
@sariel Great advice! I'm starting tomorrow and I'll note this frok day one.
-
Yeah, following the right people is the key, I follow the startup owners, investors, senior developers. Some things are very interesting threads and models they share.
-
@DirtEffect I actually confirmed with another employee who is also my friend, that interviews are easy, they are just more than the standard numbers. So yeah I think just to hire they didn't lower the bar or anything, interviews are generally easier.
-
@magicMirror trust me mental state matters a lot more than anything. I don't want to feel like an imposter. I want to feel as deserving as everyone is.
-
So reading these. 2 comments and some posts from Blind, does it mean they interviewed more female candidates and doesn't lower the bar right of the interviews right?
I am only concerned about lowering the bar, I don't want to be someone who got easy interview. -
@IntrusionCM exactly and I think when there is more to do I put more efforts, so i know I'll struggle but I'll come out strong
-
@Floydimus haha happens. Finally feeling better. I was feeling light after resigning so enjoyed the day, still need to complete the projects. How's your life?
-
@stop Permanent? maybe not in my case, because I'm recovering maybe slowly but recovering.
-
Just noticed that's a raven, cooler sun glasses too.
-
ah the bow tie too.
