For fun, make a script that goes through payload all the things, and if it hits anything, emails the CTO with a big red X in the subject line.

@sheriffderek In iOS swift 4 dev. I work in devops now. I went on a Udemy spree after University exams one year.

@Fabian Adding that to my toolbar too, thanks :)

Paradox of choice: The more you can choose, the harder it is to make a decision.
I agree with @AppleLover; make a static, and imo, use a template, get it done as quickly as possible, and up and running so that you can spam your friends with it so they can find what's wrong with it. Fast feedback means a lot.
Ok, now that you've got it up, how do you deal with the "what about all the possibilities of what I could do?"
Look up decision matrices. It is actually very difficult to compare and contrast complex project ideas without creating clear objectives and timelines, as well as impact, scope, and development hurdles.
Once you have a decision and the like, look at some of the project methodologies (agile, lean, etc.) which try to solve those problems systematically.
You are actually asking very important questions: What am I doing with my time, and what outcome is the most worthwhile? What am I gaining and what am I losing?
Good luck :) -
redbull is a helluva drug
-
maybe a stupid question, but does it work with any other flash drives? Flash memory does degrade and isn't super fault tolerant, I'd hate for it to be just a bad stick issue if you are spending lots of time on this.
-
I'll bet he tries to steal your lunch too, and HR won't do a thing about it.

Oh and if you're a crypto nerd like me, it is like a lockpicking set for crypto challenges <3

@SomeNone Sorry, I didn't explain properly;
I know it 'can' be done, but I usually only keep VS around for that occasional time I need it's build environment for some reason. I don't want to have to fiddle with it, given it's not my main IDE and I definitely don't want to troubleshoot mixing and matching drive locations when i could spend that time being productive.
I just like complaining that it isn't a one-click install to a different drive. -
To this day, I do not understand why Visual Studio will not install on a separate drive.
I have a small OS specific SSD, 120gb. Visual Studio refuses to install on my 480gb storage drive.
So aggravating. -
Build a project. Do it the hard way. The discord and documentation is fine.
Just stop asking what to do and start doing it :P -
Languages do things that they are built for well, can do most forms of data manipulation ok, and are terrible at doing things they were not designed for.
At the end of the day, its a layer of abstraction which doesn't give a fuck whether you like it or not :D -
Totally not on topic: I did a London App Brewery Swift course a couple years ago. Good programs imo.
-
Well; went from ok, to good, to really good, and ended well.
Got an offer 30 minutes later O.o -
@NoToJavaScript typically, when you register an account, it's with a password.
I assume your talking about a one-time passwords, which would be super strange as a registration mechanism. Password recovery or account lockout, sure, but registration? Would be weird imo. -
With that said, given the wording, this policy would apply to the entire HR department and CEO as well. Failure to follow should be constituted as a firable offence, meaning that if your CEO and HR could no longer have LinkedIn, facebook, twitter, etc.
-
Huh, TIL that HR in a lot of places can actually legally fire you for not complying with this kind of shit.
Godspeed and good luck, that's fucked -
bold of you to assume that I wouldn't fuck up just as bad with clear variable names.
-
@shoop I take offence to that, Swift is a lovely language.
It's because you are doing it in xCode. -
@Parzi I take it no roll backs from safemode, or any of the boot-recovery options working? I know I've had some luck with the windows recovery environment if it's not hardware specific related.
I mean, if you have a bad drive, doesn't matter what OS your running, and pray its not in raid 0 lol -
serve them a csv and a link to google sheets ;)

system restore point monday is a nice addition to patch tuesday.
edit: Wait, it's saturday, what? -
I'm with @react-guy on this. A lot of the crap that comes out is due to shitty development process more than shitty developers.
One of the guys I worked with is a full stack who literally get's paid everyday to add new features to clients projects. There is never any reduction, or optimizing, or anything. The clients only want "more stuff", and he actually can't do anything about the shit load of crud that builds up without working for free.
With that said, not optimizing your assets and dependencies is lazy, and poor practices and a lack of code review is rampant in both front end AND back end web development. -
@ElPapi42 you'd think, but the last 6 words would argue otherwise. "Or any other legally protected status"
This isn't a meritocracy, and people will be hired based on being liked, good looking, having connections, random chance, or another point which is arguably not relevant, yet it is perfectly legal to do so. There is no law that says you cant hire someone because of those reasons, or deny someone employment on the same grounds.
The law surrounding this is designed to prevent people from being "born into" an impossible life, but doesn't mean that everyone should get the same opportunity. Only that they would not be denied from opportunity.
Likewise, equal does not mean fair. Inclusive is not always a good thing. Exclusive not always a bad thing. Often, what harms one group benefits another, there is never enough time to do it all right, and money always is a factor.
Be wary of those who claim to be inclusive in business. After all, they are in business ;) -
Let me know when you find out. I have gotten by viewing it as a sandboxed virtual environment up until now. I have also been told that is incorrect as all hell, but it has managed 99% of my conversations/observations and minor implementations with it.

I hope there is an ongoing project to implement javascript in java. It would be java-java-script-script

Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is a USA organization founded by congress in the 60s.
When you see Equal Opportunity, it doesn't mean they offer "equal opportunity," it means they follow the standards of the organization. -
@AlgoRythm you fool, now you'll run out of them all at the same time! You obviously should have bought 6 for safety! ;)
-
@asgs No kidding, I'm hoping it makes a full rebirth one of these days

it's fast. it's got a community. I've even heard it's got a method to it's madness.
