-
@AnonyOps lol... perhaps we can strike a deal ;)
-
Been there... done that.. feel your pain :(
-
Just remember. The #1 rule: Dont be a dick! please...
-
as much as it would be amusing, do not do it! Variables and Class names should ALWAYS be relevant to the object / data instance you are referring to. For the sake of all of us, please just don't do it!
-
I dont connect with this... I guess Im UDP
-
@g-m-f thank you!! been setting up my office at home. since i can now work remotely. I will be sure to post my setup with the most epic views soon ;)
-
Im still battling with my a PUT method with my wife. Request Has Body? yes. Response Has Body? yes!! Safe? yes! (I have a kid already).. keep getting a 403 forbidden though! WHY!
-
@Jumpshot44 the sad thing though.. as quick as AWS giveth me a preview.. AWS has now taketh away it! It was still nice while it lasted.. all 10 minutes of the glory!
-
@dfox not complaining to you guy. South Africa is on the brink of political melt down. and the postal service is forever on strike! Make me wonder why I only ever git my utilities bill in the post though ;)
-
@Ahed91 i use ghost for my devops blog. i have a public docker image for ghost if you wanna try it out? Ghost is my favourite now

So we develop on the Django stack. and have hundreds of sites running on AWS. Some a-holes decided to deploy about 50 stone age WP sites into the Prod env. And as WP does, it was compromised, and the sites ended up using all resources in our cloud because a shitty plugin. So I had the joy of migrating all of the WD sites to dedicated VPS over the weekend. Because you know, its alway Ops problem once it went live

hahah this is amazing! thank god my office swear like troopers amd drink like fish! if i had to have a meeting for inappropriate language, I would just move my desk into hr
-
@byoigres dayum! DR could be quite exciting! Imagine.. checking out a sub 4GB svn repo! Hope you have a good uplink !
-
lol! I had a dev commit a 400mb video to Git, that was meant to be pushed to an S3 bucket. He deleted the video from the repo but didnt rebase correctly so the whole repo was still WAY inflated because of the git history haha!
-
@MrDevOpsCrap You can run it on-prem, or on a public cloud offering. You can also test it out using Vagrant. But you need a decent amount of resources on your local machine. I found it much easier to test it out on AWS.
-
@nblackburn I just got you to 1000 +1's. :D
-
Is the portal still going? Would be cool to have a look! :D
-
@Jumpshot44 yeah! Life would be amazing! Sadly, I never saw/spoke to the guy again! now days I would be lucky to get a "thank you!" email from a client ! People suck!
-
Im more impressed about the RasberryPi! :D Nice! What are you running on the Pi @beto?
-
Nice @Raspik! My best is sipping a great IPA home brew to forget about the woes and troublesome people that make my days suck
-
@g-m-f thank you! on to better things in my career! And ability to work remotely is always a bonus! I hate pretty much 100% at my old office! haha
-
you have no idea how bad it was. and the attitude I received as well. imagine I actually got the job offer, resigned from my current work, then on day one of starting get told "sorry, you took too long to get into work the job is someone elses".. kinda a blessing I guess. if they did it once it would happen agai
-
lol.. first rant I have seen with a negative score! @dfox, it would be totally rad to see which users are upsetting an already upset culture of devs the most? Perhaps the user with the most negatives gets a squishy pair of nuts??
-
I brew my own craft beer. then every 3-8 weeks I sample my brew... many times in a night...sometimes its autonomous..i dont even know im sampling it anymore.. cos you know..automated testing is part of my cognitive processes now
-
I set up the policy because very bad stuff was being deployed on Fridays. and no one cared because they just wanted to start their binge drinking early leaving me to fix their shit that broke prod over the weekend...needless to say, I still get forced to let it slide..but then demanded that I fix it when it does break!

In ear monitors do hurt after some time. My preferred head phones are soft-touch material ear-muff based headphones. I use Skull Candy's Uprock model (http://amazon.com/Skullcandy-Uprock...) . Good price, greate quality, not too bulky and are comfortable to use for hours on end
-
lol! well I normally dress like any other dev... but it was late at night so you know... just make sure the top half is decent enough for presentation. but hey, Im pretty sure you've missed a semi colon somewhere in your code. I just put a jersery on the wrong way.
-
nice @dfox ! Im busy fleshing out our new api and centralising our core product from the clients front end. maybe i should look into PHP7. seems to be living up to all its glory?!
-
head is always good :}
