@rutee07 I'm trying to create a compromise, maybe tease the interviewers but don't explain them the result completely. The initial idea/sead was from my supervisor, and I built upon it. I really don't want to discuss things like ownership and stuff with this person. Bad blood can create lot's of problems in academia, specially since I'm just (relatively) starting.

Since this person thinks that this is in whole due to his/her intellect, my ownership implicitly doesn't exist. Kinda sucks when people think that idea is more important than implementation, more so when it is better implementation.

@rutee07 but this might "technically" void the terms I signed. In my field of work, people usually overlook this, but with my current boss, I'm scared to take the risk.

@norman70688 To be honest, I can find only two reasons :- either my supervisor is genuinely paranoid or he/she wants to jeopardise my interview.
It is novel insight indeed, but my supervisor has already discussed this insight in conferences...
