Is QA job an engineering job?

In regards to software development?

@legionfrontier yes, my doubt is if the qa guys in a software company need the same/more/less level of skills than a developer?

Our QA person's title is "software quality engineer" I'm pretty sure.

It should be almost scientific: arrive at a theory, experiment, measure, report, repeat. Sometimes even sadistic: deliberately break something, anything, just to test quality. Either way, get figures through cunning and hard work like any decent engineer.

Sadly, few could get past Excel 101: a reflection of the market rather than the ideal.

Why did you become a QA? Isn't that a downgrade from software development?

Idk, I find anything that isn't software development pretty boring.
And I'm a sysadmin lol
