typosaurus12198321d@melezorus34 back in the days we only shared the programming languages we used. Now we also share our meds

Demolishun35065321d@retoor "not moderated" just isn't true, there is a little bit. The "lawyer pedo game engine dude" keeps getting squashed. Also, you can't talk about certain experimental drugs the masses took part in. That gets squashed too. Spam gets squashed by the community, but it seems like there is a lot more spam these days.
The topic of the week is no longer updated. @root isn't yet dead, but not for lack of trying. People are angry and lash out across rants. That used to be mostly confined to single rants. A lot of rants baiting people too. -
Demolishun35065321dA lot of people here seems to have spontaneously started making games and game engines. So that is a bit new.
-
Root79776321d@Demolishun I’ve been trying to find the energy to do the same. I have ideas and some drive, but no art. And I cannot art. :(
-
melezorus343336321d@Demolishun I remember baiting, people think devrant is like any other social media.
Also I don't know if I can blame people if they are tense and upset about things. Layoffs, economic crises and taxes are perfect things to rant about.
As for root, i think it would be in everyone's best interest to leave her to her space once in a while.
Everyone deserves that. She might return in the future, might not, who knows. -
melezorus343336321d@Root same, it feels like im in a weird burnout where i can help everyone else but me. Weird.
All I can do is hope that time solves this like many other things. -
Demolishun35065321d@Root I am working on creating procedural art as much as possible. I am starting with procedural terrain and structures. I also found some articles on procedural animation of characters. But yeah, art is a pain.
-
Demolishun35065321d@melezorus34 I think one person was. I am using Godot with languages it supports. Mostly scripting right now.
-
typosaurus12198321d@Demolishun can't AI generate your art? Do you mean with art 3d models? Many for free on dem internet yh?
-
Demolishun35065321d@retoor The 3d will be tricky. I have found some characters I can use for cheap, but I want customizable characters in 3d. This will require reworking any model I get and making it into pieces. Which are then reassembled in game. Part of the reason I want procedural anim is to prevent reanimating for each character type. It is a lot of work either way. But a customizable character gets the most long term benefit because I can randomize new characters.
This is how NMS was able to make so many unique creatures and people. -
Root79776321d@melezorus34 Likewise. Epic burnout, but I’m still able to help others. I enjoy it quite a bit, but I always feel like I’m being taken for granted when I help, and ignored when I don’t.
-
Root79776321d@Demolishun Don’t forget Borderlands with its guns.
Each part has stats, and can allow sub parts. Randomize each part, sum the stats, add a manufacturer and other random modifiers, and you’re done! (It’s a bit more complicated than that, but not much.)
I hadn’t thought of doing this for people, apart from like just appearances. I suppose it makes sense: you’ll never find a skinny blacksmith. -
Demolishun35065321d@retoor dungeon maps, just maps. Maybe not use them, might use algo for the voxel stuff I am looking at.
Time to be back here again!
