WHY IN THE FLYING FUCK DOES MY STOCK GALERY APP NEED TO MAKE PHONE CALLS????

Either they just got sloppy when adding requirements or there are hidden dependencies.

Like needing to request dial up access to get the phonebook to get emails so that you can easily email images to friends or something.

@meretan Did you try it? Most of the time you still can and if some Features not working it's not that Hard to go to the settings and reactivate it.

@pfish it refuses to work if I don't five it permission. I gave it the permission, did my stuff and reverted it.

I'm not 100% sure but I guess you need that permission to get your phones IMEI and Phonenumber.
Those can be used for personalized advertising.

Most app use IMEI or Sr no. as device identifier. That requires phone access. Also reading detailed cellular status requires Phone permissions

Yeah, as previously suggested, use a different gallery app. Shit, I'd use a cheetah mobile app over a stock manufacturer app.

@LinusCDE uhhh i dont think samsung will use their stock gallery app for tracking u :D. if they wanted to have it they use other preinstalled hidden apps and services with the permissions already allowed
