I made a web app and a mobile app for a client two months ago. Yesterday I shut down the server because I wasn't paid yet despite my multiple warnings and reminders.

Under thirty minutes the money was in my bank account.

Sad thing is they weren't responding to me, ignoring or lullabying me with good cop bad cop acts, acting like friends etc...

Lowering my bar to people / agencies like this depresses me.

Btw they are my former agency, they have all the money in the world but turns out they are all jackasses after all...

    Turning off a server usually draws all the attention in the world to it. Unfortunately it usually takes that to get bills paid in this day an age 😥

    Next time take the server down the minute after the deadline has expired. Every extra minute you have to wait for their payment, is an extra minute it will take you to put the server back up *after* they've paid you. That'll teach the fuckers.

    I don't think I will ever work with those crooks, at least when they come again with a job, I'll ask for the money in advance. No money, no honey.

    Your default view of people should include a gratuitous account of suspicion. The less you trust people to be decent, the less you'll end up hurt and screwed over.

    @Ashkin That is my motto, I'm sceptical, however the financial system, the work style of people and the general lack of ethics in my country force us to take a leap of faith in every occasion unfortunately.

    @bahua that was on my mind, but I've seen crooks like these before, once I asked for extra compensation for such occasion and they didn't anything, just threw my work to the trash, paid some guy three times more than my fee to make the same project and let me know about it just to give some message.

    If the person before you doesn't have any ethics, this is what happens.
