Usually the alarm rings the next time the clock comes around. In physical 12-hour analog alarm clocks, an alarm would ring twice a day if armed.

Arming for certain weekdays is standard, but I don't think arming for a date is. That's sounds like a calendar notification. It's not like we all didn't look for that feature, though.
