The usual answer for that is:

Time is a delicate flower that will stab you in the back quicker then writing unit tests in some cases.

In saying that though, one should always try and incorporate unit tests where possible.

Try to learn a test framework and try it out with new code for a week. I promise it will help you find bugs you wouldn't have found yourself.
