Guy: I don't trust password managers
Me: so how do you remember passwords?
Guy: oh, I just keep them in a note in the iPhone notes app/iCloud.

It's better knowing who knows your password inserted other way around.

i guess it could be practical; when someone steals your phone they probably look for password managers instead of the notes app

It makes way more sense to target managers if you're after stealing passwords
Also they tend to have a vulnerability here and there

@Kimmax has anyone ever found a vulnerability in the actual encryption algorithms used by pms though?

@DuckyMcDuckFace i don't recall an actual broken algorithm, but they sure do fuckup the implementation sometimes

@Sauruz Yes since the algorithm is open, anyone can implement it. That's the nice part of it. The site also has a command line program and a desktop program that do the same job. There are also browser plug ins implementing the same thing. If what uses the algorithm is completely open source, perhaps it is rational to consider it suitable for use. Or if you trust no one, you can indeed implement it yourself.

I wrote an article sometime back about the common mistakes that make people vulnerable to security breaches and this was exactly the first thing I emphasized on. Can't stress enough on this. Linking it here in case you wish to forward it to this friend of yours as well. Might actually help.

Hey! Thanks so much for sparing time to read it :) As much as I wanted to do that, I couldn't because that would unnecessarily elongate the article and readers easily lose interest. My primary purpose was to make the general public aware of the most common and bad practices. Maybe I'll write another article citing ways to handle these issues :) @illusion466
