Q: I'm [xx] years old [xyz] professional. Would that be a good idea if I try to change my career to software development right now?

A: Age is mostly doesn't matter. You can learn programming at any age. And, software is everywhere. Every background knowledge will be useful. Your prior knowledge will not be wasted.

But, should you change career?

- YES, if you deeply interested in programming.

- NO, if it's only because you feel there are better opportunities.

It's true that there may be better opportunities. But, without deep interest in the subject, you may struggle to become good software developer. Without being a good developer, your opportunities will be limited and you are likely to regret the decision.

Software development is easier for those who passionate but very difficult for those who doesn't....

Saw a lot of not starting early post under regret topic. Saw this gem posted by one of my respected lecturer on his FB. So just sharing for you all.

@Bitwise wow I wish lots of young devs (CS students, fresh grads, juniors) from my town share such passion. Hell I wish lots of people in my country to know and have such passion for something, anything.

Here most of us are just studying or working just for the sake of it. Not much passion is found. 😟

@Bitwise do you ever write software related to aircraft, or to your previous job in general?

@Bitwise I'm sure you already have this idea 😬 after working for development experience you should consider doing something related with your previous job. An app, web service, anything that you found the industry and people will need.
