Linkedin is known from displaying invasive corporate advertisements like join our cloud, and other picture title shit.

But it got worse.

From January I am invaded by contribute to this article crap and get some badge. Powered by some artificial intelligence shit.

From about a month or so I am seeing lots of suggestions on linkedin wall that look like content written by bots, and the posts are from real people, well morons from FAANG started showing up with their generated spam but that’s not all.

This week I started getting job offers that look like are written by chatgpt and not a real people. When I reply to this offer that it looks like it’s not from real person I am ghosted.

Those job offers are like 3 a day and I those are not only contacts but mostly a direct messages from premium account that costs 1000$ per month or more.

I feel like I’m in real world matrix.

But that’s not all.

I see lots of recriuters from my contact list are getting fired and looking for new job.

But that’s not all bitches !!!

I sometimes reply to some CEO and they delete posts and invite me to contacts just to ghost me.

I feel so disconnected I started to think all those people are all only bots and I am last living - real person that is not using AI to write something.

I think microsoft finally managed to kill this cash cow with their obsession about AI. Corporate shit is killing every good platform.

Hope for fediverse to take off with some news websites thinking about integration with fediverse.

Help me obi P2P nobi you’re my last torrent hope.

If p2p social networks won’t take off now it would be dead end.

Tired of the article thing too.

I too hoped fediverse would kick off when Twitter went to shit, when YouTube became ad infested, and now when reddit too is going the same route.

But it's not gonna happen. Signups and sharing has to be simpler. Ads, privacy, quality are not something people value over convenience. The frogs in these pots are used to this abuse.

@anux What exactly needs to be simpler in your opinion so it can take off ?

What would attract people to such services ?

@vane The intro verbiage needs to be more accessible. It should be easier to understand how the system works and how sharing works. Who can see shared content and who cannot.

Again this can't happen with limited users and devs who more or less work for free.
It would also help if the signup didn't have so many choices.

IIRC the usernames for login/sharing profiles aren't standard either. They had to be qualified with community(?) or maybe that is just with matrix. Not sure about the last point.

@vane the irony of fediverse not having mainstream content creators despite having better ownership terms and content sharing than mainstream apps, also suggests that something needs to change.
Perhaps they may have better answers on what needs to change.

@anux I agree and I think the mailbox in activitypub is not fully utilized because people are stuck with browser.

I was thinking about desktop app with more offline / online experience similar to old mailgroups where you get a mailbox and a disk space, when you subscribe to content - that content is downloaded for you by server and once you get online the content is downloaded to your computer, showed up as new and removed from server

you could offload downloaded content to dropbox or something like that to share it across devices

and you could get summary of most commented topics, most upvoted topics, things like that

subscription can be domain transparent so it aggregates all fediverse domains and don’t confuse people with multiple websites

account creation can be optional so before you make an interaction account with uid is created and kept on server and you only need to fill details once you want to change your username to something nicer

I can get rid of email this way, those are things I have in my head currently for activitypub and fediverse

    what you think ?

@jestdotty you still need server with at least kademila and turn/stun server to see who is online, connect to them via nat to sent them content directly

also if you want to communicate asynchronously you need to keep content somewhere but it can be also something like ping mechanism where you send ping to some account, meet me at 5 and when they got online they got this date and time displayed so they can know when they need to be online to start chatting

having two people with opened app at the same time is a problem if you don’t want to use server

@jestdotty sp how you determine sender and receiver location ?

you need some sort of routing to communicate between two parties

@vane I haven't given it much thought to be honest. What you described sounds like extra steps to me that hide things from the user to simplify the process. It doesn't simplify the process for me.
I think if the process of sign up and sharing is simplified, the ecosystem will grow better.
Your focus seems to be on passive users which is a different problem than what I had in mind.

Elon should buy LinkedIn and all other social networks just like he relieved us from Twitter addiction.
