R: Random ass recruiter on LinkedIn
Me: me
R: Hey I was searching for X skill and your name popped up first. Would you like to work for our company? It's an urgent position with good pay and awesome latest tech
Me: I quit that very company 5 months ago, because the pay was low and the tech was from the 1990's.
R: :/
Me: :|
PS: I'm not 100% sure of this, but based off the tech stack, I'm pretty sure it was for the same fucking position I quit from.4 -
My linkedin: "please dont contact me about javascript work"
Every recruiter on linkedin: "hold my beer"8 -
Two minutes of silence to all Microsoft employees who were looking to switch jobs through Linkedin. 😂😂1

Rough analysis of LinkedIn inmail’s I get:
Hi <5% of time, not my name>,
I was looking at your profile <97% a lie>. I was very impressed with your <10% something I’ve never done> experience working for <5% a company I’ve never heard of>. Would you be interested in hearing more about <60% a job I’m not suited for>, they offer amazing benefits and have a great culture!
... no8 -
Million dollar app/service idea.
Automatically reply to all LinkedIn inmail’s with “I don’t have any experience with that on my profile”.
Even without any NLP I estimate over a 90% success rate.12 -
My linkedin profile = ~7 years as an iOS developer. All of my job titles are "iOS Developer", "iOS Engineer" or "Mobile lead".
Recruiter: Hi, your profile looks great, I have a number of open roles matching your skills. Would you be free for a call to discuss your salary expectations, skills, what you are looking for etc.
Me: Hi, sorry I don't have time for a call right now, here are answers to your questions. Can you send me on any iOS job specs you have and i'll review. <answers>
Recruiter: Sorry I have no open iOS roles at this time.
Bitch ... ima find you and make you understand5 -

My LinkedIn “notes to recruiters”:
... I’m not interested in hybrid mobile or contract work.
My preferences:
- ticked full time permanent
- listed native technologies in the tag selector.
Email this morning:
Hi are you interested in the below role:
Role: Hybrid mobile developer

Type: 6 - 12 month contract.
No I am not you fucking fucktard. Read my fucking profile or go fuck yourself with a fucking cactus!9 -

And success stories like this:
How they hired the guy who had
A 10 year gap in his employment.
Because they had to take care.
Of their sick pet hamster.
Hiring him was one of their best decisions.
He was a stellar employee.6 -
LinkedIn is an alternative reality unhooked from the rest of the world, where hypocrisy and arrogance meet, creating Leaders, Experts and Analysts.
- Every company is an industry leader globally.
- Every offer is life-changing.
- Every normal person suddenly is an expert in his field
- Each candidate is an expert in time management, customer relationships, and software development priorities.
- They are all happy to share their achievements in a disinterested way
- They all deal with important issues, with great reflections on the meaning of life and reality around us
- Each written post usually starts with a question followed by a life experience
- Companies are dynamic, they change their internal processes on a daily basis
Please shoot me, I've had enough of this shit.
- Few companies are leaders globally
- The offers you make are traps and I always have to look for where the bullshit is.
- You're not an expert in your field if you've been doing the same thing for 10 years without moving your ass out of that chair.
- If you were a time management expert, I wouldn't have to call you every week for unresolved tasks, and I wouldn't even have to do 150 meetings to postpone the goals set. Exactly what is your experience with the customer? Because by heart shutting up and always saying yes is not a good way to get the job done.
- I have great news for you. Nobody gives a shit about your work successes. At most they're envious.
- If you really are such a deep and introspective person... how the fuck is it that working with you is hell?
- Copying a quote from a website and then building a narrative on it doesn't automatically make you a superstar
- Companies, especially the largest ones, take years to change and if they do it is because there is the economic motivation behind it, not because they are visionaries.

Just read this in LinkedIn:
XYZ is one of our top star developers, with #speed as maybe her strongest super skill. She develops and ships new features at a rapid pace, at any time of the day (and night)…
This sounds super toxic for some reason. I’m triggered10 -

Recruiter: Hi practiseSafeHex, I’ve looked at your LinkedIn profile and you look like a perfect fit for my new client. The role is a lead Java developer with experience in .......
Me: Where on my profile have I listed or mentioned Java in any way?
LinkedIn Notification: a person who chose to remain anonymous, with the title “Recruiter” just viewed your profile.
Wow, I wonder who could it possibly be? I’m stumped!
Also probably the first time he did look. Getting fed up with these asshats9 -
The LinkedIn suggested answers are surely generated by some kind of very sophisticated and clever AI. 🤔

A recruiter asks for my LinkedIn credentials to save me from the hassle of updating my profile.
Is this the new 'send me your cv in .doc format so I can write whatever I want in there'?
I'm not even looking for a job and I don't know who you are! Fuck off!3 -
I dont trust people who have LinkedIn tagline with any of these combinations.

Got a LinkedIn message from a recruiter looking to know if I’m interested in a full stack developer role, to only work on front end. The requirement is that I know one of:
“go, node.js, rails, python, C# .NET, RoR etc”.
I wonder who it is that doesn’t have a clue, company or recruiter (or both?).
I’m actually going to reply to this one for fun to try figure out this mess (yes I’m that bored)19 -
Stay away from those LinkedIn recruiters who use words like: "Cutting edge technology" , "Geeks", "Top notch", "Team player" , "Esteemed organization" , "Ground breakers" , "Change the world" and any more of these shitty phrases!!4

An amazing recruiter found me on LinkedIn. According to her cv she has incredible skills such as “Internet Browsers“ and “Google Calender“. Maybe I should give her a call?3

Dear LinkedIn,
Try training your AI model without using captured data of real recruiters and their dodgy practices.2 -
WARNING: Cringe stuff ahead
And now this happens
A dude who posts spams on LinkedIn and shits on people publicly, made yet another garbage post (which was copied too).
Ref. picture attached in the post.
That went viral on Reddit and I made a comment that I know this guy, have spoken to him, and he made me go bonkers.
Now, he runs a community on Slack that I am part of. I open Slack today and see a message from him where is being sarcastic on how hateful I was.
Ref. picture in comments.
What kind of hypocrite someone could be when they shit on others but when called out, get hurt.
No one says anything to my dev friends.15 -

Who the fuck designed the UI of linkedIn? When I click on My Connection, I expect to see my fucking connections. Not People I may know, Not my recent invitations, no fucking bullshit. Just my connection.
They have a small fucking text (Not even a fucking button) that says "See All" in a small corner which I can click to see all my connections. Why the fuck do you a nav button on top called "My connection" then? FUCKING HELL MAN!5 -
Whoever created LinkedIn website, please fix the fake notifications. It's so annoying. even if there is no messages or request it's still shows the notification 😣4

Well I’ve had my LinkedIn status to open for a little while now. Time to check what exciting offers (me, an iOS developer / team lead) has received.
- Senior python engineer with multiple years machine learning experience.
- a job 3000 miles outside the only city I’ve marked myself as interested in.
- Architect for a .NET team.
- Senior UX Researcher.
- The same job for a bank 6 times. But each time they won’t initially give the name of the company. Only “my fav client to work with” until I respond.
... not much hope in this process9 -
All managers on LinkedIn are just 14 year olds trapped in bodies wearing fancy suits. Change my mind.14
-
My coworker passed in February and recently LinkedIn generated her automated 30th work anniversary post. Tons of people commented "congrats." I commented "rip 💔" and after my comment people kept commenting "congrats." Your LinkedIn connections do not know or care if you are alive or dead. Everyone's just doing what the algorithm wants. It's dystopian.11

LinkedIn feels like:
- be bombarded with recruiters messaging you
- people you don't know bragging about joining a company
- more people you don't know sharing useless advice for tons of corporate crap
Is just me or anyone feels the same?13 -
I shamelessly accept every LinkedIn connection request from recruiters just so that I can send their emails to me@rescam.org5

So yesterday I posted a photo on linkedin jokingly that I was the in the top 10 of typescript developers in the country. I know that codersrank doesn’t assess your skill but rather the frequency but my linkedin has blown up 😂😂 think I’ve become a social media expert by accident 🤷🏼♀️5

Decided to go through my LinkedIn connections and disconnect from people I don’t know who don’t go to the same coding academy (we’re a pretty tight-knit bunch).
Went from 905 connections to 276.

“.... oops?”5 -
Linkedin in my home country is a clown fiesta. I swear to god if I see just one more post about "unpaid internships" I'mma shoot the whole block I don't care anymore.
IF I WANTED TO WORK FOR FREE I'D BE DOING CHARITY FOR THOSE WHO NEED, NOT UNPAID WORK FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NO NEED2 -
Apparently getting someone’s name right is not a necessary soft skill for LinkedIn... My name is not Steve...14
-
now a funny thing that happened to me a few weeks ago:
a recruiter contacted me on linkedin... wait, don't laugh yet, that's not the whole joke (this time)...
...asking whether I'm interested in something, I was like yeah, but I'm looking for part-time because i'd like to not have a mental breakdown after 6 months this time...
her response: "well... I don't have any part-times, but I have an almost part-time..."
" 'almost part-time'? first time I've heard that phrase, what exactly does that mean?"
"it means about 160 hours"
... i sit in confused silence for a bit, then write back as I calculate: "i'm assuming you mean 160 hours a month, which is 40 hours a week, which is 8 hours a day, which is full-time. please point out where am I mistaken."
recruiter: * crickets *7 -
What do you use LinkedIn for?
When I was in school I was told that programmers need a LinkedIn profile! So I made one, and connected to all my classmates and to this day still connect with my coworkers and other people I meet.
The platform itself is just full of people posting their accomplishments, but written out in way too long stories. Also a bunch of people share random articles I couldn't care less about.
At least once a week I get a network request from a recruiter, and from what I hear that's considered not very often. The recruiters always offer me a shitty job at a shitty place.
The whole platform feels like one big circlejerk with people bragging about their large network.
So what's the point of LinkedIn? Does anyone actually take jobs from annoying recruiters?23 -
Anyone could help Microsoft to fix their LinkedIn notifications ? It's not working for ages I think they got stuck.2

Literally everone were advertising me LinkedIn as something awesome and life-changing.

Just updated my LinkedIn summary, included "Design Thinking", "bleeding edge technologies" and "innovation-driven"...
What other phrases can you think of that only exist to play Buzzword-Bullshit-Bingo? :D5 -
Recent life lessons:
◆ Do not buy a domain name without obfuscating your contact information, lest you want to be harried by people offering to provide their services to “grow your business”
◆ Do not change descriptions on your most recent experience that’s set to be ongoing on LinkedIn without making note of the “notify your followers” toggle, lest you wish LinkedIn to post on your behalf a message urging people to congratulate you on your new position. A post which you cannae delete. And lo, if you comment upon it urging well-wishers to not comment upon it or offer congratulations as it is not what it appears, witness the lack of good that doth do. Resort to canned response to DMs explaining the situation and urging the well-wisher to learn from your misfortune. (I find it really difficult to not politely respond to folk. It was a good two days of like 50+ messages.)
◆ If you have a career coach that tells you to connect to as many people as possible on LinkedIn and accept connection requests, perhaps just don’t follow that advice. My second career coach was like “That doesn’t even make sense” “I KNOW!” ... I have so many LinkedIn connections. But I cannae just prune the list because it would take for freaking ever to figure out who was who and who I really still wanted to connect with. *sigh* 900+ is too many. And I have over 100 requests I haven’t even gotten around to looking at.22 -

You should be able to rate people on LinkedIn, or leave reviews.
The number of absolute fucking idiots I’ve worked with over the years who are on there and whose bios read great, is shocking.

LinkedIn posts be like:

> My company started asking us to like and share said LinkedIn posts. Okay.
> Since I'm already on I decided to update my LinkedIn profile following some advice I've seen and including some key words. Coolio.

I've seen so many posts about recruiters being annoying on LinkedIn and never understood until now. I think I'm going to go back to having a crappy profile so these people don't find me7 -
Some recruiter just reached out on LinkedIn to talk about a job opportunity with me.
I suggested he give me an idea of the pay range before i proceed and talk to anyone in the company so we dont waste eachothers time.
He said they can realistically pay X/month.
I explained that X is less than half my current salary (Y) so i wont proceed with this.
He replied by saying "oh nice, thats a great salary for your experience"
WTF is that supposed mean? did the bitch say im underqualified to get paid my current salary?10 -
I created fake linkedin profile with ai generated picture.
Already passed some minor technology assessments.
Let’s see how far I can get with this one when I start posting controversial articles.4 -

Just saw an ad on LinkedIn.
First line: looking for JavaScript developers of all levels
A bit further down...
Requirements: 4+ years of JavaScript experience plus whole front-end stuff
The fuck is wrong with people?
At least the salary is not crap. -
True story
> Got offer for nodejs via LinkedIn
> When I appeared, the interview was for Javascript and frontend

The recruiters have finally found me on LinkedIn!
And in a surprise turn of events suggested a job I'm actually qualified for... 😮3 -
Wanna know what being social media famous or being a celebrity feels like?
Be a programmer on LinkedIn.
They’d be hitting on you and you have no other choice but to ignore everyone.2 -
HR people on LinkedIn. What the fuck? Do you seriously believe you can attract qualified developers by telling them you’re looking for ninjas, jedis or life savers? I for one am still fairly new to the job so I don’t consider myself to be by any means a coding wizard, and I don’t think any strong senior developer is gonna be seduced by your catchy terminology (I may be wrong about that). Come on, talk to us like any recruiter would in any other line of business. No need to replace the words "qualified" or "experienced" with your stupid magic words, unless you want to sound like you’re desperate7

LinkedIn : hey there is a job that matches your search.
Me: ok, let's see it !
Job: Matched skills: 0 out of 10.
Thanks LinkedIn 😒2 -

God why do I even log in anymore...
Just seen on LinkedIn: "Some exciting news will be shared soon. Stay tuned. 🎉✨"
Dude, literally not a single sad fuck gives two shits about your dumbass fake garbage. Just stfu

I've just updated my career interests on LinkedIn selecting only the "Remote" checkbox.
After some hours I received the first offer: «We are looking for [...] Unfortunately, remote work is not an option today, however, we do offer full relocation and immigration support.»
So, still SPAM. Again. Fuck.2 -
WTF is going on with marketers in LinkedIn?! I’m an engineer why the fuck are you trying to make me sell your product to a company I only code for, fucking spammy cunts contact sales and do your job I have enough with mine.7

Used LinkedIn for a year: no jobs or responses whatsoever.
Uses Indeed for two days: 3 responses and 2 interviews set up in that time frame. -

LinkedIn : Congratulate {{me}} for been promoted as intern at {{name}}.
Everyone's congratulating me now.

People calling themselves "Thought Leaders" on LinkedIn.
Torn between wanting to know what the fuck this means and knowing that the answer will doubtless make me lose even more faith in humanity.
The one I just saw referred to as such (probably by himself) is that Simon Sinek goof who went viral a while back for saying that all millennials are useless lazy dopamine junkies because their parents spoiled them beyond repair. He looks like the kind of gold-plated twat who would definitely consider himself a Thought Leader, even though 'millennials are a bit lazy' is the kind of insight you can get down your local pub from the guy who'd otherwise be trying to sell you tickets to a dog fight.
How do you qualify as a Thought Leader? Do you just need to dress like salesman of the month, or do you actually need to be good at anything?
I love LinkedIn.11 -
Microsoft may be taking over Github. So after killing LinkedIn they'll kill all the code in the world too.9

Me: Maybe in the future I will add you.3 -
A day can hardly pass now before I get numerous unsolicited messages on LinkedIn from recruiters that want to know if I'm miserable at my current job and want to jump ship.
It used to be very fascinating back in the days but kinda annoying these days. My inbox is now full of such messages and it's beginning to get to me. I even got one a few days after I started a new job. Like what the actual fuck. My profile clearly says I recently moved to a new company.
I also have numerous pending friend requests from a lot of recuiters like i want my network to be filled with only recuiters. That's not why i joined LinkedIn and have an up to date profile.
I just want to be left alone and not be bothered and mentally harassed by recuiters on LinkedIn. Is that too much to ask???4 -
I've been seeing this single fucking post in LinkedIn for like 2-3 weeks.
Their sorting algorithm is so fucked up.2 -
Well... Well... What a multi-talented personality...
Every connection I see on LinkedIn has these buzz words in their tag line: AI/ML, Cryptocurrency, Blockchain.
This guy even has Smart City...!!!
Don't know how many of them are legit... I just don't understand each of these techs are so vast... Still people manage to get expert in all of them in just few days... What's the secret...?8 -
Once a LinkedIn recruiter contacted me about a job position.
The same crap as always.
And then I replied: "sure I'll look"
And the recruiter sent: "?"
I replied back: "I'll take a look and give you a feedback if the positions fit me or not"
BOOM
Got ghosted
Best feeling ever2 -
Why the f*** do people add their BD on LinkedIn??? Who wants to know when a f**** recruiter gets another year older??? If I am close to you I will know or have you on FB.... WTF, who anyway had the idea that would be a good feature to add???4
-
I think tech recruiters will be among the first to have their job taken over by AI. Even I can write an "AI" that goes through LinkedIn profiles, doesn't read them at all, and sends their owners a job posting chancing it might be relevant.
Probably the only reason it hasn't happened already is LinkedIn's TOS.
...Cheaper and at least as effective as the real thing.1 -
Recently I updated my current company on LinkedIn to "Confidential" and the description to "Great opportunity. Great company. Blah blah blah"
Since then,I've been getting more messages from recruiters. Any correlation?1 -
The more I use LinkedIn the more I hate it. I know I shouldn't be a nosy fuck but sometimes I've got nothing better to do for a couple of minutes on my work OS and the tab's right there. Every time I open it up it reminds me of why I'm not on Facebook. My coworkers are probably the most benign people to follow, all they do is repost company videos and blogposts. Basically advertizing, whatever.
It's the other people who get to me, the ones who are advertizing themselves. The soapboxing, the 'look at all the cool shit im doing', the reposting shit from people who I have no clue about. It's literally a window into just the good parts of peoples lives, like any other shitty social media site, but put through the filter of corporate PR bullshit. At least you can be yourself somewhat anywhere else, everything on LinkedIn needs to conform to what's acceptable to the sterile corporate environment, which amounts to showing off your certs or marketable products and the most surface-level 'progressive' social politics.
Fuck LinkedIn and fuck my curious ass for opening it like a dumbass kid who doesn't understand why you shouldn't touch a hot stove.6 -
I wish LinkedIn profiles come under IP protection- I have a friend who copied my linkedin profile word-by-word, except experience and title section. He even updates his profile every time I update mine !!!
He asked me last week whey I haven't endorsed him, despite requesting multiple times. Hmm.1 -
My LinkedIn status is set to "not interested for work offers" so recruiters won't bother me. So I thought..
Recruiters be like: well screw that, I'll use the connect button and push my stupid generic message into his face anyways.7 -
What do people think of LinkedIn?
I keep getting pointless messages about introductory level positions, integration consultant or sales stuff, all for salaries below my current by a significant margin.
Has anyone had anything useful?
The fact that the second suggested tag is "LinkedIn is shit" may have just answered my question...3 -
Title on LinkedIn: MLOps Engineer
Senior Recruiter on LinkedIn: so we were thinking of hiring you as a web developer
Bruh2 -
Fuck LinkedIn
Fuck their closed API
Microsoft always steals your PRIVATE info, but is scared of us using their PUBLIC info
Fucking morons
I can just use selenium and still have all the info I need
Then why the fuck would you close API to approved only
Can't you just track the traffic????7 -
LinkedIn recruiter:
- messages me about a fantastic job opportunity
- waits exactly 3 days
- messages me asking about the cool company I work at and how I find the engineering department here
- again 3 days
- messages me saying that he has heard some amazing recent news (there were none) about the fast growing company I work at and asks how I feel about the changes caused by our headcount growth
- 3 more days go by
- today, I get a notification that this recruiter has given me random LinkedIn endorsements for some skills that I had put on my profile back in college and since then forgot about even the existence of the endorsements feature
My favorite part is that the job they had originally sent expects a few languages and other tech skills most of which I actually have listed on my profile, but naturally, he only endorsed me for skills not required for said job spec.
What kind of weird sorcery is this?2 -
Don't you just feel that powerful personal connection when a recruiter on LinkedIn starts his message with "Dear Sir/Madam, I really like your profile and it is a great fit blah blah"...
Sure you do, enough to miss my obvious beard (and thus genre).
Oh and I'll pass on that opportunity that doesn't fit any of my skills/previous experience. -
If you're gonna contact me on LinkedIn asking me to ditch my current job in favor of working for your company, you better make sure that at least the website on your company's LinkedIn page actually is up.3
-
Tired of recruiters sending copy pasted job descriptions on linkedin. Asked them in my summary to use some specified word if they actually read my profile1
-
Recruiter on LinkedIn:
"Hi *dev*,
I hope you don't mind me contacting on LinkedIn but I couldn't find your contact details. I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't share this awesome job with you. Can U have you're phone number? I think you are a great candidate for this job.
If it's not quite right for you, please refer your contacts!"
Where do I start...
There's a good reason why I don't have my contact details in my profile. I also have a note saying I'm not looking for any jobs at the moment. If I'm "great candidate" what would you ask me to refer my friends? I know they're doing their job, but honestly it feels like they're retarded or something. -
If you suddenly get a connection request on LinkedIn from someone you work with, and their profile finally got updated to their current job, they probably will not be at your company very long.2
-
I have "we do not outsource any development" very clearly written multiple times on my LinkedIn profile and yet I still get 10-11 messages a day asking me to hire their sketchy Ukrainian
/indian software devshop, moreover to handle my fucking PHP MySQL needs (I very specifically write multiple times on LinkedIn and elsewhere that we do not use those tools). I've just stopped accepting requests from India and Eastern Europe, and if their headline mentions recruitment, anything "specialist", or blockchain that's an automatic ignore.
The funniest part is that they all say the same "we specialize in your needs" are you fucking kidding? If you read any part of my company profile or my profile you'd know that your specialty is anything BUT our needs fuck right off
Edit: I'm going to also specify that I'm a broke college student with a tiny software startup, so not only can I not afford their devshop but also why would I outsource the only thing we do?1 -
If you're depressed about the quality of your application remember - LinkedIn is there to brighten your day (ifyouknowhatimean)1

For fuck's sake , linkedin , i use you for professional connections and job shit , why the fuck are you showing me some rarely met person's birthday?

linkedin recruiter asking for my email...
cmon dude... its on my profile...
i mean do we even exist anymore
🤡3 -
I'm not jumping on your shitty bandwagon on LinkedIn for a "world-wide customer", "really important" .. and fucking shady blah blah blah to hire me.
I PICK the company I want to work for.
I RESEARCH the company I want to work for.
I DECIDE where I'm gonna be miserable,
it's my fucking choice.
You ain't selling it to me, keep sending your shitty messages i'm trashing as soon as I get them. -
Why the hell people add me on LinkedIn for like no reason? Why do people do that?
I mean, "John Doe wants to connect". Ok, let's see, maybe I know him... "John Doe, Chemical Engineer living in Argentina"
WTH man? I don't know you, I don't work with chemicals, I don't live near Argentina, and we do not have anyone in common!
Unless you're a recruiter; if I don't know you and you don't specify why you wanna connect with me, I'll ignore your request.1 -
Linkedin looks like some devs went to Facebook, right clicked, saved a copy of the webpage and just edited some of the text. Why do we need "Like" and "Comment" features?
It was fine when it was just a professional networking site. Boring, sure, but at least it did the thing it was created to do.
It's all very cringe now.
PS I got my current job and will probably get my next job through Linkedin, but it still makes me cringe4 -
"please like our new post on LinkedIn"
AGH fuck off asking every employee to like your shitty "oh we hired some one new" posts
I don't fucking care that it then seems like an active company. I like shit only if I actually like it... Not some boring ass shit post
Also stop trying to micro manage your employees... Like actually wtf...1 -
If we could lay off the LinkedIn jokes, that would be great. These things are already more stale than a 100 year old bagel, K? Thanks. The rest of the dev community thanks you. 🙄3
-
Called by a recruiter for a position as a JavaScript engineer, and he claimed my LinkedIn profile looked like I would be a great fit... I don't have JavaScript labeled as one of my skills on LinkedIn.3
-
LinkedIn sends me notif about an InMail. I open it via the notif. I close the app. The notif count badge is still on the app icon. I open the app again. Go back to the message. Close the app. Now the badge is gone.
Good going LinkedIn 👌2 -
Microsoft: "Let's publish APIs that all developers want and not tell them how to access it, making them waste hours on researching it...."

*new message on LinkedIn from recruiter
Recruiter: would you be interested in a position on .Net ?
Me: I'm only interested in positions that offer flexible schedule (so I can continue my studies)
Recruiter: *proceeds to send me a long description of the job and company
Me: *read it. There is no information regarding the schedule anywhere. Search on Google the company and find out they have a fixed schedule 9-16. F**K!!, Why would you waste my time and yours, you don't even read my message or what ??2 -
What a pretentious pool shit is Instagram feed!
LinkedIn and they must be friends. (https://devrant.com/rants/4678943/...)
Sigh.1 -
I don’t care. If someone wants to use something then that’s their problem.
Fucking linkedin spam to get me yellow badge like I am 12 or something.7 -
Recruiters on LinkedIn:
"Apologies for this direct approach, I'm sure you're not looking right now and get messages like this all the time, but I have this opportunity that I think you'd be perfect for.
It's not in a language you know or a framework you're even aware of, but I know you're right for the job. It's not anywhere near you either. Hell, it's not even on the same planet as you, but fuck it, let's give it a whirl!
If you think this right for you, or not, just call me and we can talk some more about this (even though I have no idea what THIS is!). If not, forward this on to 1000 other people or you will be eaten by a dinosaur tomorrow!
To be honest, I don't really know who you are or what your skills are. I'm just spamming you through InMail.
Laters, Nerd!"1 -
I use Linkedin but I wonder why people still asks me my resume. It sure feels not DRY to have 2 places to keep your career history. 🙄
#developerfeels -
Oh look, a notification from LinkedIn, ut should be that job application.
*open LinkedIn*
Say congratulations to sOmEunKnOwN for his...
pfft shut up, like I give a damn cookie3 -
When random connections endorse your Skills on LinkedIn en masse. -_-
I don't even really know you... -
My pet peeve with LinkedIn: messages from recruiters on another continent offering me a job because I live in the same country as the job offer. Just because the Netherlands are a small country doesn't mean I will take any job anywhere in the country! Open Google Maps and check the driving distance, then you'll find that the job is 150km away from where I live, and it would take me 90 minutes to get there in good conditions, not to mention rush-hour traffic! Thanks but no thanks!4
-
just signed up on linkedin
added all my precious twitter followers who molested me with auto-dm's to add them on linkedin too
now I'm banned for adding people I don't know...2 -
Height of making fake profile.
Few days back, I got connection request from Mark Zuckerberg. When I check profile it was having 23 connections !
I think it was okay till you make fake profile on Tinder but making fake profile on LinkedIn ???
Share your experiences below ...4 -
I shit you not: Today, a random recruiter phoned a company I work for, asked to speak to me, and then tried to offer me a job :| .Wtf is wrong with you people?! I'm not searching for a job anywhere... Turns out they found me on Linkedin...
-
!dev
Decided to spend more time on LinkedIn to familiarise myself and start looking for potential employment opportunities.
For past month or so, I've seen few decent opportunities, which is a nice start. However, for every decent post, I've come across:
- About a hundred of posts by self-proclaimed crypto experts who spout absolute gibberish and somehow get thousands of likes. 5 min google search and absolute minimum knowledge of economic theory discards 99% of their claims and statements
- Handful of idiotic "career advice" blog posts
- Numerous posts, both bashing and helplessly supporting shitty recruiter practices
- more crypto nonsense
- People jerking themselves off for running a profitable business (company launched a 1-5months ago)
Really starting to hate the platform, seems like all the integrity it had before becoming fully mainstream, has gone down the drain and it's become a straight up corporate circle jerk1 -
Creating a LinkedIn profile was a good decision. They send you hilarious job offers almost daily, even though I'm not even searching. Always a good laugh 😂
-
It's ironic to see recruiters in linkedin who criticize bitcoin end up looking for blockchain developers.1
-
People that contact me through LinkedIn trying to sell me some marketing shit or asking me about some issue with the service provided by a company that I started but with which I don't have any relation whatsoever since October 2016, which by the way is pretty clearly stated in my LinkedIn profile,…
DON'T YOU KNOW HOW TO FUCKING READ??? Stop pestering me about that company. I don't have anything to do with it, I can't do anything about it and, even if I could, I DON'T FUCKING WANT TO.1 -
Who cares what you use, stop making the same discussions over and over again on LinkedIn on what is better and using who can wank the hardest as a scale.
-
Does anyone every get JOB from Linkedin ??
I am continuously applying from last 1-2 month and I just got.. Thanks for your interest but we are not moving with your application. No Matter if it is basic skill level Job or higher one? I wonder if I am the only one facing this13 -
The amount of repetition and vagueness in this unsollicited recruiter job invite is insane: "Current Technology Sector Consultant". I've had 10's of invites from these recruiters on Linkedin, blocked all of them and they just keep coming back despite my Linkedin preference being set to let recruiters know "that I'm NOT open to opportunities"
If you ever get an offer from VMR consultants / J People consider these reviews carefully: https://glassdoor.co.uk/Reviews/....
I'm naming the company because it seriously deserves to be exposed for its bad practices towards both their potential and current employees.3 -
Recruiters with no clue (a recurring theme it seems).
Got an e-mail this morning via LinkedIn proposing a position in Zurich (Switzerland) doing customization of an application according to business needs, configuration of interfaces, gathering of requirements, 2nd level support etc.
DID YOU READ ANYTHING MY LINKEDIN SAYS? I work in storage support (doing mostly troubleshooting of FC/iSCSI issues between storage and hosts), and live in Amsterdam, and while I would like to pivot to a SW dev job, this seems to be way over my grade of experience, plus I have no desire to go living in Switzerland.
Arsehole!5 -
Anyone else have experiences with recruiters popping out of the woodwork like gnomes to ask you to either downgrade or totally change careers?
Just the other day someone on LinkedIn asked me to teach at a charter school... for half the pay. Why would ANYONE??4 -
Linkedin turning into facebook
Instagram turning into tiktok
facebook turning into amazon
Telegram turning into streaming app
what will github turn into?😂
Honest answers only !7 -
My whitewashed LinkedIn profile keeps getting harassed by recruiters when no one looks at my real LinkedIn profile under my Chinese name.
To save everyone's time typing fuck you because I am using LinkedIn. I will type it for you: fuck me.1 -
Who’s going to tell LinkedIn that I’m not interested in the garbage my coworkers post on their platform?1
-
hey linkedin!
hey linkedin!
hey linkedin!
"you have one new message!"
no i don't you stupid fat fuck slimeball garbage idiots - btw your devs suck and you as an organization suck
these type of lying emails have to be illegal somewhere right?
like something the clowns i used to work for would have concocted... good amount it did for them, they are unemployed, and at least i have my income from my meager saas products / savings (they are gen z, probably don't even know how to spell the word "savings")1 -
How do you guys get LinkedIn recruiters to annoy you? I want to be annoyed too - I reckon it would help me find places that are hiring7
-
Once LinkedIn was a professional platform, now it has became the platform where everyone congratulates what they do not understand. Worst of them all is the fucking fake fale title everyone has. And stupid one is people commenting interested to some moron's retard post.2
-
LinkedIn, if you have the nerves to send me an email, how about you also have some guts and tell me what that "notification" is about. Not that I care in the first place, but generally whenever I see the notification after logging in, I would think the same every time: That was a waste of time to read, even if it was in the email subject.
Like I care about some recruiter and his PHP shit when I've clearly stated as technology I want to avoid, have been deployed for 2 years and am using the tools I prefer.
I also don't care if I appeared in a search.
"Holy fuck, you appeared in that shitshow of a companies shithead recruiter. You better start celebrating like you won the fucking lottery and put your hips in a submissive position like a good boy"
"Thank you for using linkedIn, have you considered giving us money?" - automated bot of linkedIn stuff every now and then.
Is there some kind of fetish I'm missing that makes this an enjoyable or endurable experience?6 -
Does anyone interact with posts by linkedin "influencers" or recruiters that isn't an "influencer" or recruiter themselve?
Do people exist that actually use linkedin as a social media site?5 -
Am I the only guy in this universe who hates....
"Bla bla bla
Bs more bs much more bs
*Flaunting that I am so kind* bla bla
Bs bla bs bs bla bla
*Candidate was such a shit still I hired him*
More bs bla bla bla
Agree?"
Kind of posts on LinkedIn.7 -
LinkedIn is a really nice tool and website... and then there are people who contact you to become the only developer in a new startup and work for free in exchange of company shares, that at this moment are worthless. Wtf5
-
Most of the people on LinkedIn identify themselves by their profile in their company. WTF?!
And these are the same people that try to motivate?!
There is nothing wrong in flaunting your “dream job” but almost all the people of LinkedIn do it.
What a shallow place. No wonder I get depressed whenever I am there.
Fucking fugazis!6 -
Does anyone else feels that LinkedIn is a kind of professional trash? Majority of users there are just for posting out their certificates and to but buzz words in their bio.13
-
• *insert intelligent-sounding phrase here*
• like i care about your too many bullet points on your LinkedIn... -
From tomorrow, LinkedIn recruiters will be like:
- I'm currently looking for "oldPieceOfShietTech" developers. Now it isn't listed on your profile, but found it amongst your private github repositories... -
I told a guy I work with that I thought LinkedIn was a dating app. I was very confused when I got a job offer to work here. When at the time I was looking for someone in my life that had an interest in programming.3
-
Another day, another recruiter seeking "young", "talented", "ambitious", "driven" etc. etc. individuals approached me on LinkedIn for a phone meeting.
I wonder how fast he'll run when I mention the words "apprenticeship" or "entry level". -
I spent eight years in college doing very little progress and didn't graduate in the end ("studied" CS). I'm pretty sure I have severe ADHD and can't even afford to try and treat it/medicate it.
Anyway, I understand the eight-years-in-college-without-graduating matter looks very bad on a resume, but it's a good college (one of the top in my country) that gave me invaluable knowledge in what little I managed to accomplish there.
The way in which LinkedIn allows me to put college education only allows me to input (and in fact in most websites it's kinda required) start and end years, but to be truthful I gotta set these years with their huge span and some kind of observation that I didn't graduate...
This really gives me huge anxiety, and discourages me from even applying to jobs at all, feels like I've ruined my chances at getting into the industry, feels like it locks me away from opportunities, and I know how bad it looks for the HR people, who probably just reject me outright because on top of everything I'm not even the kind of person to particularly attract positive attention from the "normies" as they say.
So, should I just not put my incomplete/dragged out "education" on LinkedIn? I'm not sure if *some* CS education with extremely poor academic results is better than showing no history of higher education at all.1 -
I work for a tech company, centered on computer vision and video processing. I mean, we're not exactly the most Web centric company I grant you. That said I've just noticed a post on LinkedIn a couple of days ago celebrating our new start. The URL?
...
...
That starts http://localhost/ -
Received my first recruitment message on LinkedIn today. Generic as fuck "hey your profile looks nice, we have dis thing for you, come take a looksie".
Went ahead and read the whole thing, started laughing while reading requirements:
- own a degree in CS or related field: re-starting college next week
- extensive experience with automation processes: uuuh... I can write bash scripts and gulp tasks, how's that?
- extensive experience with Java, Angular, Selenium and Protractor: sure. Spent two weeks tinkering with those tools. Pretty much an expert already
- two years of experience: not even 6 months into my first job
And some other nonsense
Job would be in a very nice city, extended family lives nearby, actually a nice position. Too bad I am not looking for a job and my classes start on Monday 😂
But hey, at least people are looking at my profile! Yay!3 -
So I help I help this guy with setting up a Ruby Api backend for free.. First mistake,
Guy: hey you want something in return like LinkedIn endorsements.
Me: sure that be cool!
Guy endorses me for HTML...
Guy: your welcome!!!
Me: wtf.. HTML???
Guy: Dude your so ungrateful.1 -
I haven't touched Flash for at least six years, but people still endorse me for my Flash skills on LinkedIn. Because they wouldn't see a duck from a castle. Ignorant f*cks.
-
if you're a dev, WHY on earth would you send me a blind LinkedIn invite with no message? who the !@#$ are you??1
-
There are different level of person who asks for help on linkedin and worst of them are who asks for whatsapp number.3
-
Okay. Why do y'all even have a LinkedIn profile (if you have one), and why haven't you deleted/deactivated/whatever yet?16
-
*updates LinkedIn with new jobs*
*Wakes up to invites and messages from recruiters who wasted my time then disappeared*
*Some from people who I didn't even removed me*
Oh my. Whatever will I do in this situation? 😈 -
For the first time in over 5 years. I have updated my linkedin account. It was a soul-effacing task that drained most of my energy.
I even did some aptitude tests for the heck of it and somehow managed to get a badge for every one of them, despite how backwards, outdated and irrelevant some of the questions are.1 -
Recruiters on LinkedIn will be like: "I just came across your profile and ...". Scrolls up the message history and there is the same message a few times with a different job.
I know recruiters have to send out tons of emails and using templates makes it a lot easier, but at least make and effort to make it look like you aren't just reusing the same message over and over. -
Is the title "Web & Mobile Developer" on my profile misleading?
And the part in my summary which says I'm studying and currently not working ambiguous?
Cause I keep getting investment offers and job applications!
If you want I can hire you as an onClickListener function of a button in my Android app or as an activation function in my neural network model! -
I keep on checking if there are recruiters messaging me in LinkedIn,
but I am not actively looking.
and even if something is looking good to me, I feel so rusty on my CS I won't even give it a go... -
At this point in tech, what's the point of sending a company your typed resume instead of just a link to your LinkedIn?10
-
Just created my linkedIn profile after a year of experience as a full stack developer. Will it be considered as a crime?5
-
so idk im not able to get a job yet or anything but is linkedin bad?
i havent heard anything but i just went to http://garbage.net and something tells me that someone doesnt like it… -
Hey guys! Quick question!
If I write an article on my blog (WordPress), then copy it and paste it word by word on LinkedIn, Medium, CSharpCorner and CodeProject.
Would my blog will be effected? Will Google kick me out of their indexing? I'd be my own content.5 -
String s = "Rant";
boolean b = true;
if (s != b) {
System.out.println ("Sometimes i hate LinkedIn, so many recruiters or companies have meaningless descriptions.. why should i even apply for a job, if they don't describe their offers, specs and so on"
}4 -
Recruiter these days,
Message you on LinkedIn,
Schedule Call for further steps,
Calls you,
And then gets lost,
..
At least say I am rejected or approved -
My schools, university, and my previous company all use a profile picture with an ugly logo in LinkedIn that says something like "50 years.." or "80 years of..".
./. Ya'll make my LinkedIn profile look ugly. Why don't you use that classic emblem logo back?! -
Given the recent #deletefacebook movement and everyone deleting their Facebook accounts for privacy reasons, I must ask. Is LinkedIn any better than facebook? How much do you guys trust them with personal information?9
-
What's wrong with the fake messages on #LinkedIn ?????
a long message talk about making business and something and in the end of it it says just email me and you'll know everything!
Why don't you just text me here...well that's when the fake alarm rings. -
Been deep diving LinkedIn search for a new project. Quickly hit the LI free monthly search cap that started in 2015 to encourage Premium LI subscriptions. May get it but in the meantime using x-ray google searching to LI and other techniques that don't count against LI monthly searches. If you have interest rant me and I will provide more details.
-
This nonsense gave me an idea. Now I want to start building a big, organised, db for good bad examples. I can think of so many uses for it if everything is tagged/categorised well.
Thank you rando LinkedIn reject, you gave me the best birthday gift I could hope for... another potential branch of my data architecture to play with new data in new and to be discovered ways!
The site of the rando is athensnexus.com5 -
So I just refreshed LinkedIn and it has a new look.
It's so bad I can now remember Microsoft bought LinkedIn a couple of months back every time I look at it1 -
My problem now is:
- I want my linkedin profile to be public
- I don't want to be bored every day by spam from recruiters that claim to offer me "A NEW JOB OPPORTUNITY!!!" but don't put any other details about.
I am 100% sure that most of them are searching monkeys for stupid jobs in body rental companies.
At the moment i put a warning on my profile for recruiters to not contact me. I hope this will work.1 -

Funny linkedIn experiment:
Alejando was curious to see if a nonsense LinkedIn account would also receive job offers. It does! :D -
LinkedIn is like the Instagram for career dudes, what kind of bootlickery is this?!
some post and comments are just cringe
we know he is a great guy or they are a great company, what is all this poetry for?3 -
Want more connections on LinkedIn?
Check it out:

Show your love, give a star. -
What do you think about job posting on LinkedIn?
These days, I am tired of looking into someone posting so called 'job offer' and all the dumb people are typing interested, their email address and getting directly scammed by more professional way.3 -
I don't understand the logic behind Linkedin messages where recruiters (or anyone else) write their name after "kind regards". It's not paper letter, their name and photo are clearly visible.4
-
HR on LinkedIn...
Me: post update on getting a new job on 100 times better company then theirs
after a day...
random hr: we have openings.. send your resume to xyz@xyz.xyz...
adds in looking forward to hear from you. and adds connection request...
what are they actually expecting🤔!!! -
Connected with a key Facebook Messenger dev on Linkedin.
Now I appear 20 times more often in searches.
Looks like my previous ~60 contacts weren't worth much in comparison. (But I still got requests from recruiters every now and then). -
What is your opinion of having a LinkedIn profile with such details? Will it help or will it hurt? For me, I think it's too much.
https://linkedin.com/in/...
Please remain civil and no troll attacks.3 -
Anybody use LinkedIn? I have created my LinkedIn account probably 3-4 years ago. but since then, I probably have logged in there maximum 10-20 times :/
Not that the account is needed but still curious to know what people actually look for, in a LinkedIn profile, how to get recognized, etc etc. Care to share any tips? or anything helpful for a Noob-LinkedIn user?7 -
Is LinkedIn actually any good?
Never used it and now that I'm a few months away from graduation I might just start. devRant is usually straight to the point about these things, what do I get out of bothering to use it?8
