@nik123 You can sometimes find it depending on how the person is writing but yeah, I know what you mean, hehe

@nik123 is it a prerequisite to know someone's sex?
  • 2
@nik123 that's the best part. It keeps us all weird and wonderful.

@nik123 well it's not that weird, like me or @ThatDude are not baiting anyone into something lol

Also I think it'd be funny to see someone react when they meet IRL

@nik123 yeah like let's say you were meeting someone who is a female here and then you see a guy who acts like he's her boyfriend and probably scare you at first 😂

@nik123 on a serious note though, not everyone is cis :)

@Jilano how? Please enlighten me on that?

@theNox My comment was poorly written but I meant either by the writing style they are using or information on their profile if you really want to go that far.

I don't really mind female/male avatar unrelated to one's gender since my mind will associate a handle with a face no matter what. :P

@Jilano no, I was genuinely interested how you know that the person is male/female by their writing style

@theNox The following comment isn't science and isn't 100% guarantee. Furthermore, it all depends if it's a "simple reaction" or a more construct text.

From my experience, women tend to be more subtle in their writing and avoid bold declarative sentence which makes the whole argument less "aggressive". They will generally try to prove their point without forcing it.

I know that it all seems like stereotypes (and probably is to some extent) but if you are interested in the subject, you could look for "Gender Genie". Researchers tried few years ago to guess the one's gender based on his/her writing, and people then implemented it. The algorithm check the frequency of certain words/expressions to guess with a success rate up to 75%.

PS: For both gender, I'm talking about what I would call "interesting people" not the one you could easily find on the "things" that are Facebook and Twitter.

PPS: It's more of a "little game" than anything else when reading one's comment :)
