Anybody have any easily searchable sync-ed notes apps that are free or one time fee they'd recommend or do I need to get better at google drive?

I've been thinking about trying to cheat and have a git repository to imitate it but imagine the automation to be a pain in the ass or infeasible if anybody has already walked down that road.

    What automation do you need?

@electrineer automate faking an autosave by having it attempt a commit and push every X time units

+1 for obsidian. Great tool with enormous plugin support.
Only downside is it's not licensed for commercial.use even as an employee unless you pay.

Good alternative for that is Joplin.

You got to know what you want to sync and ensure your application can handle that. But for all intents and purposes this is the best FOSS tool for that objective. I run it locally in my network and never had to worry again.
