@ThatDude or you could just join me in Canada! Although it's only a matter of time...
-
@shandaar Despite basically everyone of any importance and non-importance saying "don't do it" the FCC chairman has gone ahead with his plan to repeal net neutrality. This isn't necessarily the end... It's the beginning of a really long dispute... So keep fighting!
-
theNox92717y@ThatDude I have a better idea: let's build our own place, planet, island, country whatever you like
-
I'm not following news, what happened? What does this mean for you guys? Forgive my noob question :)
-
RealKC9587y@gitpush FCC voted to repeal Net Neutrality (the rules that forbid ISPs from charging customers premium for specific websites and the rules that also forbid them from blocking sites that are not required to be blocked by law AFAIK), thus ISPs can now do that.

It took 5 minutes for devRant to laod. Am I being paranoid or is it already in affect? It could have been the shitty school wifi.
-
bondman2427y@IDontGiveADuck the power of lobbyists ..you should be able to google and find out who were behind making him the FCC chair
-
bondman2427y@Chlodovechus people usually sing that song until they hit what 40-45 yrs of age when they realize they are still middle class and then reality sinks in..unless you are in that 1% .
I am all for capitalism but not stealing.. -
bondman2427y@f7u12 i already know the outcome of the net neutrality bill so i am not fighting this fight.. i only posted my opinion..google should be able to help you with the enlightenment process
-
@RealKC aha! And why the hell would anyone wants to do that? How will it benefit the people? Oh wait, who cares about people, it's just import money and export people ....
-
Of course the net neutrality decision is stupid and Ajit Pai is full of shit. But I really don't think Internet died or will die. Instead of coming up with a new crypto / ICO or a new social media startup, people can now focus on coming up with a new internet. (Not justifying the decision. Just think people should stop freaking out less. It'll evolve if there's a need. At the end of the day, consumers decide the direction of the market)

@irene
If it wasn't for capitalism you wouldn't have a smatphone to post on devrant, you probably wouldn't be a software developer(unless you worked for the government) and you would be spending the rest of the day standing in bread lines.
Capitalism is the greatest, most equal, freest and fairest fiscal system that man ever created -
@LittleSun
You don't trust the free market yet you trust the government and to decide for you what's best?
All governments are corrupt and have a monopoly on the usage of force.
The free market is comprised of people like you and me who want profit and are willing to collaborate with rach other to gain this goal. The free market cannot exist without quality produce and satisified customers. However, governemnts tend to flourish when the people are murdered and oppressed(Stalin's USSR, Nazi germany, North Korea, Maoist china etc.) -
aaxa22217y@Chlodovechus That's a very narrow view to have.
Capitalism cannot exist without a state to regulate it. Period.
Just imagine Disney or whatever other company having monopoly on the TV/movies entertainment market.
You'd argue that would be a good thing?
The US is probably one of the most capitalist countries I know of. And how are we doing today huh?
Shrinking middle class, increase in conglomerates, the president is nuts, and the average person can no longer afford to pay for his own education and politics which are controlled almost sololy by money (lobbyists yay).
Don't misunderstand me, I'm into the free market and capitalism to some extend. But I seriously believe that the US is the perfect example the of how NOT to do it -
@aaxa
I wish my country was more like the US. I admire the US.
The US is based on liberty and freedom. My country was founded by socialists, and despite the right wing controlling it for years it is still plagued by remnants of that horrible regime(mainly the media, supreme court, mandatory military service for 3 years and high taxes and regulations)
Eventually I believe the future of Mankind has to be stateless and anarcho-capitalistic -
aaxa22217y@Chlodovechus I see where you're coming from. It's no wonder that you think like that.
But trust me, it wouldn't work. The US is going to shits at the moment and it's only going to get worse.
I must admit, that I'm quite fond of the Nordic systems (Denmark, Sweden, Norway) and how they handle the balance between state and the market. Sure we have issues as well, but we don't have the same issues as the US. And politicians are usually not corrupt here. -
bondman2427y@f7u12
this is dev site and i am not going to help you to use google..here is a note though if you have done any research..
"Pai’s views echo those of the big broadband companies. That might have something to do with the huge sums AT&T, Comcast and Verizon throw toward lobbying, collectively spending $11m in the first quarter of 2017."
December 14th 2017.
The day the internet died in America.
