    Mastodon??

@J-2FA I just hope that you actually know, that dots or emoji comments are used to subscribe to the comments of a rant, else your repeating comments on them make you look funny.

I assumed Mastodon was another dev-related social media, but when I searched it up, I discovered it was a band.
Phew! I thought you were going to betray us for a moment.

It appears most of them are :/

Exactly. I just don't see the appeal of it.

The worst part is I wasted my time reading about it and selecting a server for more than 5 minutes, and then they asked for sign up.

For any new user here, you open webapp, and voila! Read all the rants.

No offense but it looks pretty bad. I don’t really see the point. It seems like a more spammy/hard-to-navigate version of Reddit/Twitter.

Well, I like it. And I don't see the point of comparing it with devrant that's not what I'm saying, it's not better or anything, it's just that I enjoy people there and I started to make contacts and I got a better social interaction than on devrant. I'm not saying people should come too, I just wanted to share my thought 🙂

@VonKavalier I tried it couple days ago too and you mostly hit really awkward people sharing very awkward things (pretty much facebookesque at that point), also I didnt like that you have to sign up for every single pod, maybe you could share your secret sauce?

@JoshBent Well I don't know x) I used https://instances.social/ to choose an instance (I got mstdn.io) and then I lurk the threads (the one with people you follow, the one for the current instance and the global with posts from all instances) and grab interesting posts, follow interesting people etc. Now I participate in some posts, answer people who need help, meet people and get news about stuff that interests me :)

But I guess it's personal, and I understand the appeal of it as much as I don't understand Instagram at all.
