Got tired of Windows 10 giving me BSODs

Tried fixing it (previous rant)

Decided to get rid of it

Purged Windows 10 along with Mint for good

Booted Solus (It's awesome)

Installing..

Installation failed - Input/Output error(5)

?

Maybe ISO got corrupted

Downloaded ISO again (painfully slowly)

Installing...

Success!

Booted to Login screen

Incorrect username/password (shit)

Tried again x times (absolutely correct username and password, I'm sure)

Doesn't work

Booted from the same USB again

Format and Install (again)

Installing..

Installation failed - Input/Output error(5)

:(

I'm not sure what's going wrong here..

My laptop is soulless right now..

Seems like hardware problem to me. Have you like up the error codes ?

Well since you're getting input output errors while installing and also you can't login probably due to the same. I'd say your hdd. I had similar error before these are IO errors.

@ilikeglue Is there any way for me to fix this? It's an SSD though.

@LeMeow Ouch, when it comes to SSDs it's replacement time when it starts putting out IO errors. I have never had an SSD come back to life.

@LeMeow well as someone else recommended try to install a different distro first because this can also be because the installer is bad. If the other distro does the same then it's most probably dying. And well ssds are not fixable. If you have a live CD try to look at the smart values of the ssd maybe that'll tell.

Boot in single mode, run dmesg
But it sure looks like hdd/sdd error

    Update :
Solus installed successfully and now it's working as it should

    Maybe it fixed itself -_-

Hard drive problems. I'd put money on it.

Secondarily, maybe you have some fucked up RAM. Try reseating it first.
