Why does the devrant android app not compatible for newer android versions.
And if it doesn't... Then why does it tell me to download the app on the web in android while blocking me from using it.
Every time I use it on mobile I have to enable desktop site option and zoom in .....

    heyy try skyrant;) https://play.google.com/store/apps/...

Since the devs abandoned devRant, they didnt update the app and website.

You can still install the devRant app on new android versions if you use ADB to install it with a flag that allows old apps to be installed.

    the flag & command

    adb install --bypass-low-target-sdk-block FILENAME.apk

Google did this shit cuz of some apps with old sdk that bypassed restrictions. But who is google to decide if my apk's are secure 🙄

@joewilliams007 (just asking) why don't you remove that ... "install app" thing on mobile or just give the link of skyRant app in it?

@ceaser he is not the owner of devRant. He just made an unofficial app for it. :)

@ceaser I see why you're confused, the original devs abandoned this platform years ago. We survive until the credit card on file expires thanks to @joewilliams007 's unaffiliated 3rd party app.

@joewilliams007 Google is the one and only god. They decide what is good and what's not. Also, it does advertisements

@joewilliams007 and if google isn't there to judge, you'll go to the second authority, Microsoft. For some people maybe Apple

@retoor not even torvalds has the right to decide for me

@retoor sounds like a dystopian sci fi movie

@joewilliams007 Tovalds is so cool. He's living my dream; creator of very technical software that gets used a lot and work on every day. Even extra kudo's since the software is free and doesn't have to ask money for it. He's responsible for much joy in my life. But i would've done a thing things different: I would live in a village and convince some core developers to live there and work in a small office together. With six or so. I would just pay their moving expensive. Currently he works at home and is walking on a device while coding and his home office sucks. I do understand not caring about big and fancy - i don't either, but at least keep it neat a bit
