Nilo-jxn6837yWeb developer here on Mac. But I have a design background so. I don’t hate on windows or Linux users but I won’t leave mac unless Linux becomes more designer friendly.

I'm using mac air nowadays because circumstances. Previously it was my mom using this mac for works which clearly didn't need 8GB ram. And she was clicking on malicious links and getting system infected.
Bought her a $200 2 in 1 Windows laptop and I took the mac eventhough initially she got mad about it. But now it's all fine and thanks to its builtin antivirus.
i have a pretty cool system for my web dev. I feel like i don't get distracted easily when working on mac than in Windows. -
I used Linux for years until I got a job where the company provided a Mac.
Considering it’s Unix-based now, it’s not too much different. I really like Linux, so I was pretty happy about that. -
jsMonkey5647yMac here, It's so good I even turned my PC into a hackintosh so I can Mac on decent hardware at home

marcom4587yNot an Apple fan but got a 2015 MacBook at work without choice, dual booting with Linux. Running OSX for proprietary stuff like Ms Office mostly and homebrew at least gives me the most important tools there too. So the OS is minor annoying for me and the hardware speced quite high. Hard to accept the bad displays on other laptops if you are used to that one :)

I have MacBook Pro from work. I dual boot it with Linux, atm. I use Adobe products for designing things. I wish Adobe made their programs available on Linux.

VenomDev7087yI use my MacBook Pro primarily for Swift Development, but also use it for other projects if I don’t feel like using my Desktop. So if it’s Swift or don’t wanna use my PC it’s Mac, otherwise it’s Windows.

Once I had a mac for coding. Since before trying it I already had my fully customized linux and years of experience, I felt I was just using a very limited distro. But that's my experience. Some devs I know won't trade that for anything.
About the mac laptops, well, they were good once. But currently, they suck really hard and would make my job harder just because of connectivity issues. So mac laptops are a big no for me. -
Fradow9087yMy company decided to be Mac only (business/designers prefer Mac, and we dev iOS apps so Mac is mandatory for devs anyway). It mostly works well enough, there are lots of tools and a working Shell. Nothing to complain about, really.
I wouldn't go back to Windows for dev unless forced to do so (though my gaming and couch PCs are on Windows, for obvious reasons), because there is no working Shell (I actually tried Bash for Windows yesterday. Couldn't even install Jekyll...).
My experience with other Unix as been limited, but I'd probably be happy to work on a BSD or Linux as well. The OS just doesn't matter all that much nowadays. -
I'm not very rich - Hence I use Ubuntu
My company is slightly richer than me - Hence they've provided a windows machine.
Funniest part is - My manager uses a Mac. He runs heavy softwares like Adobe reader, Microsoft PowerPoint, lucid charts and many more 🤣😂
How many of you use Mac's for dev?
Seems like a lot of Windows and Linux users here.
question
osx mac
