rui7257617yLovely insight there.. im thinking of stepping out of netbeans to and moving withcintellij
-
@Marill then even I will have to try intellij because even I have gotten all mellow in my eclipse comfort zone..
-
IDEA got an option to change all shortcuts to match Eclipse standards.
Also maybe reading this will ease some transition woes: https://jetbrains.com/help/idea/... -
Marill4757y@7root that is heroic. Only difference is I started with vim, tried for a little while and gave up to eclipse. Going back to vim needs serious efforts (ditching the keyboard comes first)

Marill4757y@Makenshi thank you!! Now that will save my day. I can’t unlearn few shortcuts from my reflexes
-
rui7257617y@7root it’s hard to use vim editor..never did like it but it is so portable that you can create scripts inside server terminals.. rather than doing an ftp save file...

AL1L34877yWith intelliJ there's an option to change the keyboard shortcuts to eclipse and there is a light theme, AND you can change any of the colors.

@rui725 From NetBeans, IntelliJ is a step up, ergonomically. NetBeans has a lot of quirks you sort of get used to, minor discomforts where you only know they bugged you once you switch.
-
@Marill exactly its a plugin.. why will I add a plugin for something that is already in-built in eclipse..
Also, their eclipse to ij documentation does not instill much confidence to make the change.. it actually made me not want to try out ij..

Follow up to my (ignorant) previous rant.
Context: Eclipse vs intelliJ
Situation: Was too comfortable with eclipse. knew shortcuts in the back of my palm. Loved the light theme. Argued with anyone who blindly believed IntelliJ is better than eclipse.
Action: Forced myself to try IntelliJ. Stepped out of my comfort zone. Got a one day code block. Changed to darcula. My eyes struggled to read. My fingers typed usual eclipse shortcuts to discover unknown windows.
Verdict: after two days of learning and not giving up. I have started loving IntelliJ and I know why.
Moral: change is good. Get out of your comfort zone ;)
