    Looks like someone, decided to revoke some, I’ll add you the 5 you need

    @olback Yeah, I've lost like 350 reputation over the last month. Some people don't like me very much 😊

    I hate it when it is either higher by 1 or lower by one than the number 5, I'll -- you to take you back to 20005 :3 :P

    @Nanos On WoW I enjoyed dotting those, or using Curse of Doom and watching them run helplessly about 😄

    @Nanos WoW had great lore and raiding. I miss it.

    @Nanos Nothing 🙁
    RimWorld, I suppose.

    @Nanos that and lack of time.

    Most important for me:
    Story, music, gameplay. Interesting combinations, too, like in Magicka. I've always really enjoyed that. Challenge, too.

    By contrast, graphics are just ... well, they're nice if they're nice. But most games I play are older or intentionally look retro.

    Who is 20k and why did you hit them?
  • 2
    @Floydian I was getting close to 20k, which is kind of exciting, so I was keeping an eye on it. I kept noticing the number dropping.

    e.g. 87++ from notifications in the morning, but it was only like 20 or 30 higher, or when I hit 19700 three times. lol

    @Nanos I definitely enjoy games I can play for 15 minutes and have fun with.

    Props if they have progression, too!

    @Root I found that my enjoyment of video games went down as I learned more about programming concepts... I can't stop my mind from saying 'oh so thats neat they used this or that pattern' and it's so bad I think more of the possible code layout than the game. I too found I can only really enjoy old and new retro style games. Maybe it's because the data structures and code patterns are usually so obvious I can't get too distracted. But it amazes me when these older 'simple' games are addictively fun! Anywho... Sorry for the ot side rant ha

    Btw.... CONGRATS!!!!

    @agaskins Absolutely!

    That's all I can see when I play games. I see how the engine is built and what it's capable of. If the engine isn't capable of very much or I can see everything it can do, I know it won't surprise me, and the gameplay therefore will always be boring (see Pokémon). Story can absolutely make up for this, but most games are just so lacking...

    @Root your point on story is so true! The one caveat for me is RPG games... Although I prefer 2D graphics I can still enjoy modern RPGs. Which is to say, STORY games, ha. If the story is not just another Final Fantasy derivative that is, haha. Also simple but clever puzzle games can be fun... But modern fighting games, first person whatever games, most mmorpgs (and I love the idea of the MMORPG... But I have yet to find one I enjoy), I feel like beautiful graphics have taken all the budget of most commercial games, and story seems like an afterthought...

    @agaskins I agree.

    Two things really make a game for me: interesting combinations/interactions, and story.

    Magicka is a good example of the former (and the Zelda franchise, in its own way).

    Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, etc. epitomize the latter.

    By contrast, shiny graphics are just... something nice to look at while the rest of the game is boring me to tears.

    @Root I couldn't say it any better! You're making me want to play some old FF or secret of mana now haha

    @agaskins 😄
    I want to play Chrono Trigger again.
    Maybe finally finish Chrono Cross
